About Tommy
FOSTER OR ADOPT
TOMMY | 1yr 4m | Male | Husky X
Located at a Melb Shelter
Would you just LOOK at that face! Tommy is a very handsome husky cross (we suspect with kelpie) who needs just the right household to make his furever home.
Tommy is a super handsome lad, and a super active youngster, with energy to burn. We know the right house and human is out there for him, so we’ll be clear about the type of environment he needs to thrive.
While he looks quite kelpie-ish, he’s packed with husky traits, like poor recall and bit of stubbornness. He is very smart and gets very bored easily, and he thinks fences are just silly and need to be climbed.
Tommy could be a really good option for someone who is out and about in the car all day, as we know he loves company and is good in the car.
Tommy has a good history with other dogs and showed good social skills, and he knows sit, wait, come on, leave it. He loves playing with kids, and will thrive in a household with older kids who like to play.
We’d absolutely consider placing him with another dog to meet his high energy, we’d insist on a meet n greet so it’s got the best chance of success, and we think a female will be preferred.
Tommy loves a good chat, and will need fully-fenced off-leash opportunities to burn off energy, as well as some big walks / runs every day. Tommy also really likes activities that challenge his brain and occupy him - like noseworks/find it, a digging pit with treasures buried in it, training sessions, puzzle feeders and long-lasting chews.
He has, unfortunately, struggled with separation anxiety turning into destruction and escapes, and Homes for Huskies will provide you with lots of advice and support to work with him on this. There are solutions, and as a young boy, we think he’s got a really bright future ahead of him.
Tommy needs someone with oodles of time to dedicate to him and plenty of appropriate stimulation to keep him entertained.
