About Jay - 3 Year Old Maltese Terrier (Trial)
Jay is a beautiful 3 year old Maltese x who is excited to move into his furever home where he can be loved and spoiled.
Jay is very affectionate and loves receiving cuddles, tummy scratches and giving kisses. Jay is happy sitting with his human on the couch watching tv, going on walks and playing with toys and doggie friends. Jay loves his toys and playing with toys.
Jay can be an excitable dog who can jump up when he is excited.
Jay loves his walks and does so well on his lead. Jay is very dog friendly and is currently in care with two small dog foster siblings.
Jay is an inside dog while his human is at work or out. Jay does like being outside exploring and coming back inside when he likes when his human is at home. Jay is toilet trained (however can do some initial markings).
Jay sleeps on his own bed however also enjoys sleeping in bed with his human. Jay would be happy with either in his new home.
Jay has some quirks that his new family needs to be understanding and respectful of. These quirks however may just be Jay needing time to settle and trust his new humans and environment.
Jay does not like to be picked up by his humans. Jay can jump high and is happy to jump onto your lap, couch, bed etc for cuddles and love instead.
Jay may startle easily when he is sleeping or not expecting a pat and needs his human to approach him calmly and gently.
Jay does not like to be towel dried after his baths. Jay is just not a big fan of the towel or his feet/paws being dried or touched at times. Jay however is getting use of his human holding his feet to put on his harness for a walk.
Jay loves his toys and is so playful. Jay sometimes enjoys playing with his toys independently and can not like it when his humans try to take his toy off him. Jay may also be cheeky and get items he is not suppose to have and doesn't like giving them back. Jay is easily distractible however with new toys, treats etc.
All of these quirks may be due to Jay’s trauma of losing his humans, home, dog sister and being moved around between foster carers. Jay may eventually start to settle and become less heightened and anxiety driven around these quirks when he finds his furever home and settles in (could be months until Jay is fully settled) and starts to trust his humans. Due to these quirks Jay will need to be in a home with older children (or no children), and/or adults who can be gentle, patient and understanding towards Jay’s needs.
Jay is a very lovable small breed dog who will make his new furever family smile and feel so loved by Jay.
Jay is in foster care in Kurri Kurri, NSW and his adoption fee is $700.
