About Marvin
Hi! I’m Marvin and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR MARVIN
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/TeVUnNpsZkTr2W437
NOTE: You are unable to meet Marvin until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Marvin in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie playmate would be great, if not then lots of socialising with other dogs
• I arrived at the shelter as a stray so my history is unknown. Due to this, my interaction with cats, pocket pets or fowl that are free roaming in the house or yard is completely unknown. There can be no guarantee that I will be ok living with them
• Due to coming to the shelter as a stray my history with children is unknown. I do seem to be a very gentle boy so I may be ok with children who are used to dogs.
• I like both friendly male and female dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation. I LOVE LOVE LOVE squeaky toys
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• Short regular walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• An active family would be great as I love getting out for daily walks and exercising.
• I like both friendly male and female dogs however I can be full on in play, so another dog with the same energy as me is a must.
• I appeared scared of cats when meeting them at the shelter however once my confidence around them grows I might be more inquisitive. If going to a home with a cat they must be dog savvy and we must be introduced slowly.
• I LOVE other dogs but I’m a very energetic and playful dog, so I need a doggy playmate who will match my energy levels and playfulness.
• A doggie companion is a MUST to keep me company when my family isn't home or a family that is home all the time. I suffer from separation anxiety which results in barking and possible destructive behaviours.
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Not tested with rabbits, guinea pigs & livestock so not sure how I will go
My best features:
• Very playful
• Wiggle butt
• Highly food motivated
• I am always gentle but when I see you I do get very excited and my energy levels go up
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• I walk well on lead
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• Social butterfly
• I am clever and eager to learn so would love a family who will teach me some cool tricks.
• I LOVE toys, especially squeaky toys
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
• I am very well mannered
• Love to snooze on the couch
• I walk well on lead but will pull when I smell or see something of interest, daily walks should help me improve my lead skills
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• I love my food & toys so using them as a positive reward should make my training easier.
• I need further training on my recall as I can ignore you if you're trying to call me back to you
• I may show signs of anxiety when I'm left alone in the backyard. Leaving me some enrichment toys/treats may help this.
• I appear to be quiet vocal at times when left alone - a family who has a lot of time for me, allow me indoors and leave me with lots of mental enrichment when home alone is recommended
• As I have not been allowed inside before I am not housetrained yet
• I walk well on lead, unless I want to go in another direction, then I tend to pull harder
