About Shallot

Say hello to Shallot, a beautiful black kitten with a heart of gold! It takes a little while for him to warm up to you, but when he does get ready to be showered with love and endless purrs!
Shallot has definitely mastered the balance between wanting your attention and spending time on his own - ideal for when you love being around your cat but also need to focus on other things. He's the purrfect WFH buddy!
You'll find Shallot napping in all sorts of places around the house. Blankets, boxes, carriers, in the middle of the room or in the full sun. Give him a quick pat and he'll purr in approval :)
When Shallot is done napping he enjoys chasing flies, strings, toys, crumpled pieces of paper or anything else that makes a fun sound. He's super easy to play with - just throw any of his toys on the floor and the attack is on!
Like all Maggie's pets, Shallot is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: I'd love a quiet home that feels cosy and safe, and where there's heaps of places to tuck away for a nap (or ten). I do like being around other people or friendly felines so that I’m not alone all day.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Think of me as a mellow kind of kitty! I’ll hang around in the same room and keep you company, thought I probably won't jump on your lap or demand pats. But if you start dangling a juicy toy or initiate a game, chances are I'll go from zero to 100 in a heartbeat! Playing and chasing things are my weakness...
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I haven't met any kids yet, so we'll have to see!
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: Cats are the best - for playtime, snoozing and just hanging out!
While I haven’t met any dogs, I’m sure I’d enjoy being around nice dogs with a similar energy level to me.
Medical notes
Shallot has been diagnosed with a ventricular septal defect (VSD). A ventricular septal defect (VSD) – often referred to as a ‘hole in the heart’ - Fortunately, Shallot has a relatively small VSD that is ‘restrictive’, limiting the volume of shunting blodd.
Moreover, there is evidence of extra tissue forming around the defect that has decreased the effective size of the hole. It is likely this will persist and even further reduce the size of the VSD. This suggests a likely good long-term prognosis with potentially normal life expectancy.
A recheck echocardiogram is recommended in 6-9 months.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
