About Buddy
******************APPLY AT www.gsrv.com.au ******************************
Buddy is 9 months old and is a loveable goofball that finds himself looking for a forever home. Buddy didn’t have a great start to life, his previous owner was unable to take care of him, and as a result Buddy was left in a backyard with little interaction or attention. Despite this, Buddy is incredibly affectionate and outgoing, he is ready to live life to the fullest and make up for lost time!
Buddy is a typical German Shepherd pup that hasn’t had much exposure to the outside world, he is excitable, boisterous and is in desperate need of boundaries and training. Buddy lacks impulse control and is very cheeky, he needs an owner dedicated to teaching him manners and rules within a home. Buddy is not suited for a first-time dog owner, we are looking for someone with experience with young, large-breed, boisterous dogs that will be willing to put the work into Buddy to help him become the good boy we know he can be!
Buddy is food motivated and loves to play fetch, he is quite clever and loves engaging in training sessions with his humans. Buddy would thrive attending group obedience lessons, not only so he can fine-tune his manners and skills but also work on his socialisation. Buddy will enjoy practising his training with his humans at home; short, frequent training sessions within the home will help to keep Buddy focused and practising his skills.
Buddy loves everyone he meets; he has been quite gentle with children and isn’t overly mouthy. Buddy doesn’t really understand his size and will accidentally knock over small children when he is playing… which is most of the time, he is best suited to a home where everyone is over the age of 5 years old. All family members must have experience living with a large-breed dog and be willing to enforce critical boundaries and provide consistent feedback through training.
Buddy loves to play and is an active boy, like most young shepherds, if he doesn’t have an outlet to work his mind and get his body moving, he will bark and get up to mischief around the home. Buddy needs an active owner that will give him plenty of exercise and take him on adventures, he would love to have someone home often or to go with his new people, he just loves being involved in whatever you are doing. Buddy needs to be provided with mental enrichment, particularly when he is left alone for an extended time, treat dispensing toys, puzzles, hide and seek games, kongs and other tools to keep his mind working will ensure he is kept busy and happy.
Buddy is inexperienced with other dogs, he grew up with another dog, however it did not appreciate his puppy antics. When Buddy sees another dog out walking, he will bark and make a scene, not out of aggression, but rather pure frustration and desire to reach the other dog to play. Buddy has successfully met other dogs out on walks however can be a little ‘full-on’ in his greetings and attempts to play. Buddy will need to work on his manners greeting new dogs and will need to learn impulse control and to contain his excitement, this is not a quick fix and will need to be worked on with his new family overtime.
Buddy may be able to live with another large-breed dog, the other dog would need to be very tolerant and happy to play, but also confident enough to tell Buddy off when he is being annoying. Having the ability to separate Buddy from another dog is a must so that they can have some space and time-out from each other if Buddy is too much.
Buddy has not been tested with cats or other small pets.
This gorgeous goofball has stolen our hearts, with his big tongue hanging out his mouth constantly, bounding around following you everywhere, it is hard not to fall in love with this big pup. Buddy is extremely affectionate and loves to cuddle on the couch, he really is a big baby that is craving affection and direction and will thrive in the right hands. Buddy has a gorgeous temperament and exudes a natural charm; he is ready to be someone’s best buddy for life!

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
