About August Landry
Calling all Daschund lovers and people who aren't afraid of a big project - let us introduce you to our very special girl August Landry! There is a lot of information in this profile that is essential to read, so please look at ALL of the below information before coming to our shelter:
August is a super lovely girl who needs a VERY special and unique home with extremely patient parents who are prepared to see her for the sweet girl she is inside. August hasn't had the best start to life as the shelter has proven very stressful for her, so her adoptive home will need to be the perfect fur-ever home.
August needs a home where she can be the centre of her human's attention at all times and is never home alone, as she becomes very destructive and stressed. She needs someone who will be able to take her with them wherever they go and be their true sidekick/partner in crime! (Yes, even to work with you!). The only thing is August isn't too fond of walking, so would like to be treated like a queen and have an alternative mode of transportation such as a pet stroller or carry bag.
Being a queen also means August has very particular tastes regarding her toileting habits (as after all, she deserves nothing but the best!). She likes places that are soft under her paws, for example - a pee pad or soft grassy area - so will need to go to a home where she has free access to a backyard, as we've found she does not go well in an apartment environment.
One thing we know she LOVES is a playpen with all her favourite toys and bedding - as after all, a queen ALWAYS requires a regal throne - so will need her forever family to buy her a brand new throne of her own.
As mentioned, August is needing a home with very patient dog-savvy humans Secondary School Aged (13+) and above who will be committed to making sure her needs are met and giving her time and space to live up to her full potential. August is very much a work in progress, so please make sure all family members are present for a meet and greet.
August isn't keen on other dogs and will need to be the only dog in the home, and for this reason we also wouldn't recommend her going home with any other pets, as we think this will add to her stress levels in her new home.
August is also undergoing behavioural medication here at the shelter for her stress which will need to be continued in the home, as well as a Grade 3 heart murmur which will need continuous monitoring as she ages and potentially medication in future. Last but not least, August had luxating patella surgery here at the shelter which she has since recovered from, so please also keep all this in mind when considering adopting!
So if you think you're equipped with the skills and lifestyle to give August what she needs, please come down to The Lost Dogs Home North Melbourne today!
xoxo
