About Zeus
Please Welcome Zeus 💙
Unfortunately Zeus story is one we see too often, discarded when he was no longer wanted.
The dog you see stressed in his kennel isn’t a reflection of the dog Zeus truly is.
When Zeus is brought into a calm environment like our main office away from all the noise and with people, he completely relaxes. So much so, he even falls asleep on the floor.
It’s like night and day, which is why we would love more than ever to get this beautiful boy into a loving home sooner rather than later.
HOUSEHOLD- Zeus is a well mannered young man. In a calm environment he isn’t overly boisterous. We are looking for a very social family for Zeus to be welcomed into, one who can take him on plenty of adventures and to lots of dog social places so he can met lots of doggy friends.
We can picture it now, him and his new family out for a Saturday breakfast, Zeus sitting quietly under the table waiting for any food to fall on the floor, just taking everything in around him.
ON-GOING TRAINING- Zeus does need some training with his basic obedience. He can he quite stubborn when being asked to sit, even if treats are involved. He just stares at you, tail wagging. Zeus does know his name, and will come when he is called.
ON LEAD- Zeus is mostly a dream dog to walk on a lead. He is quite happy to have a casual stroll most of the time. The only time he can pull is when he sees another dog. Zeus does need to learn some manners when it comes to lead etiquette when he sees another dog. He is always very eager to say hello but needs to learn how to approach other dogs slowly.
PLAY/TOYS- Zeus has shown a love for toys. He enjoys running after them when you throw them and bringing them back to you. Zeus can get a little bit excited when playing with toys can jump up on you in his excitement.
Zeus has shown no toy aggression and is more than happy to have you touch his toy and him while he is playing.
OTHER DOGS- Zeus likes other dogs, however he just isn’t always sure how the best way to greet them is.
Apart from wanting to pull towards them, if he meets a dog who is a little more stand of ish in their interactions or one who is more shut down he isn’t too sure at first how to say hello.
It takes him a few interactions with that dog to work them out.
If Zeus meets a confident, playful dog he is much more relaxed and ready for a game almost instantly. It’s important for Zeus that he is given plenty of exposure to different dogs as he matures.
We believe Zeus can be rehomed with another canine, but for the time being we recommend his new family only have one other dog and not multiple as it will be too over whelming for him.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- Zeus is not suitable to be rehomed with cats.
CARE/GROOMING- Zeus has a shorter coat that won’t require much maintenance, however you may find he will shed some hair on occasion.
EXERCISE- Zeus is a young dog and will need plenty of exercise. Daily walks and games of fetch would be just what he needs.
NUTRITION- Zeus is currently underweight. This isn’t due to him being a fussy eater, it’s unfortunately due to him being in the pound environment and him being so worked up.
You will find once he is settled in his new home and given good nutrition his weight will improve quickly.
Zeus also has a lot of tarter on his teeth that a dog of his age really shouldn’t have. This is likely due to his diet before arriving into care.
It would be beneficial for Zeus to be given raw meaty bones and dental chews to maintain his teeth.
BREED - Staffy x possibly Kelpie. Zeus is only a medium sized build and is much leaner than a staffy. Zeus turns one on the 8th August.
Zeus is located at our Erina Shelter and his $500 adoption fee covers: desexing, lifetime registration, microchipping, current vaccination, flea & worming treatments.
If you tick all of Zeus’s boxes and have a family home that can take Zeus to lots of fun places then please lodge an adoption interest.
