NOTE: You are unable to meet Abel until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Abel in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.

What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A patient family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time.
• I am a very friendly and gentle boy and would love a home with children.
• I like both friendly male and female dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• Short regular walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• I can be shy at first so I need a family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• No cats, I may like to chase them
• My previous owner has stated I bark when left alone. Whilst I have not showed any of that behaviour here a doggie companion to keep me company when my family isn't home or a family that is home all the time will help with this behaviour


Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Cats or small animals as I may find them fun to chase
• Cats, rabbits, guinea pigs & livestock

My best features:
• Love bug
• Wiggle butt
• Gentle & placid
• I can sit, shake hands & stay
• I have had some basic obedience training and am a generally well-mannered dog
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• I know my basic doggie commands
• I walk well on lead
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• I appear housetrained
• I LOVE tennis balls
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
• Well mannered
• Love to snooze on the couch
• Housetrained and used to being allowed inside

Where I need to improve / Training required
• I may show signs of anxiety when I'm left alone in the backyard. Leaving me some enrichment toys/treats may help this.
• I can sometimes initially be shy. It doesn't take long for me warm up and my excitable & full of life nature to come out.
• I am unsure of thunder & fireworks and will whine. I will require a safe space to retreat to during these events as well as comfort and reassurance from my family.
