About Stormy
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption ** Please note this pup is part working breed and will require appropriate exercise and training.
NAME: Stormy
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender
.
BREED: Kelpie x
Breed Traits: Kelpies are high energy and highly intelligent being a working breed, so may need to be found a 'job' to make them feel fulfilled. They get bored easily if their brains are not worked, so training is a must. They are very social with adults and children and social with other dogs. They are very loyal but if the instinct is strong they may try to herd your children.
*******************************************************************************
ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, devoted, eager to please, clever, confident, sweet and playful pretty much sums this cutie up! With some dedicated training and a ton of love Stormy will make a wonderful companion.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Stormy is still exploring her new world but so far she's loving running, chewing, playing with the other dogs in her foster home and adores cuddle time on the couch with her carer.
ENDEARING FEATURES: She's very affectionate and loyal. She's a smart cookie and is quick to learn new things so training should be a breeze once she's comfortable in her new home.
OTHER ANIMALS: She gets on well with other friendly dogs and would love another youngish dog to play with in her new home after gentle introduction. She is untested with small animals but could possibly live with a dog-savvy cat after gentle, supervised introductions.
GENERAL INFO: Stormy will need training on a lead/harness as this is all new to her. Her house training is coming along but expect some accidents while she's getting the hang of things! She's a typical pup energy wise, eat, sleep, play and repeat! She loves to chew so will need some good chew toys to keep her occupied. She rarely barks and is very smart so is doing great with her command training. Stormy would do best in a dog experienced home as she likes to get her own way, but when she knows who's boss she loves to please and is very obedient.
ESSENTIALS for Stormy:
** a calm, loving home where someone is there for most of the day; especially in the first six months after adoption
** a home where Stormy is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized, well fenced garden where she can run, play, sniff and explore
** attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for her to learn and grow confidence
**one or two walks a day with play time to use and channel her energy
** continued positive, gentle exposure and socialsiation
Stormy will have bursts of energy while a pup and we envisage will be medium to high energy as an adult dog.
Stormy could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 6 years of age who will play and interact with her appropriately but know when to give her space and time to chill.
