About Buddy
Affectionate, joyful, playful, active boy with the best silky ears!
He's not just smart and loving, he's also a professional sniffer with a nose that can rival a detective's! Nothing escapes Buddy's curiosity. He'll stick his nose into anything that piques his interest, whether it's your laundry or that mysterious box in the corner.
Buddy is the life of the party, always up for a good time with the family. He'll cuddle on the couch, scratch his chest for a belly rub, and then BAM! He's off to fetch, run, and explore with the energy of a wild adventurer. This dog is your ticket to endless laughter and unforgettable moments!
Sure, Buddy may be a little clueless about personal space because he's a big boy with big dreams. But fear not, he's a quick learner and takes directions like a champ (most of the time). Just be prepared for his "zoomies" and random bursts of excitement when he discovers new scents or tries to get a reaction out of those cheeky chickens in the backyard.
He's got a thing for destroying anything soft or fluffy. Consider it a challenge for Buddy—can he defeat the fluffiness? It's a battle he takes seriously! So, arm him with the toughest chew toys, or watch in amazement as he masterfully disassembles his teddies and looks sad until you restuff them for him.
Typical of his tracker dog type, Buddy is like a mix of Sherlock Holmes and a goofy, lovable goofball. He'll keep you entertained with his investigative skills and his hilarious antics. Just be aware that Buddy's recall skills may fade into oblivion if he catches a good scent. It's like he's on a mission to follow his nose, and no amount of calling will bring him back from the adventure.
Buddy has a soft personality, not a mean bone in his body and is simply a sweetheart with amazing ears.
Notes from his foster carer:
Buddy has shown himself to be an excellent inside/outside dog during our time with him. He has learnt that he goes outside in the afternoons and while we are eating dinner and then patiently waits at the door to come back inside at bedtime. When he does come inside he is calm and goes straight to his mat. He sleeps on his mat or on the loungeroom floor all night. When everyone gets up in the morning he will check on everyone and then go back to his mat to watch over everyone. He doesn't follow you around the house once he knows where everyone is and what's happening around him.
He has access to the couch but seems to prefer the floor. He is completely house-trained and has not had any accidents inside, he is even happy to go out in the rain if he needs to instead of having an accident inside.
Buddy doesn't dig and there has been no attempt at escaping. Buddy is in a secure backyard that has dogs on all sides, some of which are very barky dogs but he never barks back. He also never barks at people or dogs when we are out walking. Occasionally you can get him to awwhooo while playing fetch but it's very good-natured.
He greets the children after school by sitting down and wagging his tail but never jumps on them. When new people arrive he can forget what he has learnt and jumps up but quickly responds to "down" and goes back to sitting and wagging.
He doesn't lick anyone, just likes to stick his nose everywhere. You can eat your dinner around him without him wanting any or begging. He is very gentle when taking food from you or from children and never lunges or snatches. He can misjudge the distance and put his whole mouth around your hand for a treat but never with his teeth out and once he realises what he's done he pulls back and tries again.
He has been slowly introduced to other dogs, one or two at a time of different sizes.
He has been amazing and enjoyed every second of hanging out with his new dog friends. He is polite and responds appropriately to the other dogs. He is capable of walking on a slack lead and staying near to you on walks. He responds to training treats on walks and can stop/stay/ come/ walk on command.
He has adjusted to being a house dog but he has done an excellent job. He is smart and kind and curious and just wants to be loved
