About Indy
******************APPLY AT www.gsrv.com.au ******************************
Beautiful Indy is 6 years old and is feeling very lost and confused in this big scary world. After finding herself abandoned at the pound, she is desperate for a stable home that will give her unconditional love.
Indy is the sweetest girl, she can be a little shy at first, however when she warms up, she is a complete snuggle bug who loves nothing more than to be by her human’s side. Indy is a typical German Shadow, she loves to be involved in whatever you are doing and will follow you around the house, she makes an excellent spooning buddy on the bed and the couch but will also happily settle for a warm, comfy bed of her own nearby to her humans. Indy would ideally have someone home with her often and must be allowed inside and included as part of the family.
Indy has been through a lot recently, it’s been a really trying few months for her and she is now ready to find a home where she can come out of her shell and feel comfortable within her own skin. Indy would do best in a home that is quiet and that has a predictable routine, Indy needs to feel safe and would do well with someone very understanding that has a lot of time and patience to reassure her. Indy gets along ok with children and is very gentle, however when they cry, scream, and run around, she gets overwhelmed and will hide. We are looking for a home where everyone is over the age of 8 years old so that Indy doesn’t feel worried within her own home.
Indy can be anxious at times and will spin and chase her tail and sometimes chase shadows, this behaviour is OCD related and stress induced, it needs to be stopped and redirected on the occasions it does occur. Indy is currently on anti-anxiety medication and has also been practising calming exercises and interrupting techniques with her foster carer. Indy is responding well to intervention, however this is an ongoing battle that she will need her new owner’s help to face… just like humans, dogs sometimes need help with their mental health too and will have good days and some days where they need some extra support.
Indy is initially a little nervous around other dogs, when introduced slowly and at her own pace, Indy has shown to get along well with other dogs and is currently living with 2 other large-breed dogs in foster care. Indy may be suited to living with a large-breed male dog in her new home, a quiet, older male that doesn’t have anxious tendencies would be most suitable. Indy would also be ok living as the only pet in her new home. Indy is not suited to a home with cats or other small pets.
Indy is living with hip dysplasia and will be joining our “Forever Foster” program. This means we will search for a forever family for Indy who will provide her the love and care she needs, whilst GSRV supports and manages her hip dysplasia. Indy is currently medically managed with Beransa injections to keep her comfortable. Indy still gets around well and has lots of ‘pep in her step’ Indy by no means lets this condition stop her from going on adventures and hanging out with her humans.
Indy is a special, sensitive soul that just needs someone willing to love her and help her feel like she is finally home. When not under stress, Indy is a calm, easy-going girl that enjoys going for walks and especially loves puppacinos! Indy loves her food and is quite clever, she knows sit, shake, and drop and is also crate and toilet trained. Indy needs someone to give her a second chance and unconditional love, this girl deserves so much more than the hand she has been dealt, we are determined to find her the happy ever after she has been dreaming of.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
Mature (1 year to 6 years) - $600
Senior (7 years plus) - $350
