Are you an experienced dog owner who understands the needs of timid and shy canines? If so, Rio might be the perfect match for you! Rio is a beautiful medium to large-sized dog who is looking for a forever home with patient, loving, and understanding humans.
Rio is a quiet and sensitive soul. When she first enters a new environment, she tends to be timid and unsure, but with time and patience, she can flourish into a confident and happy companion. Once she feels safe and secure, she reveals her true nature as an agreeable and independent pup. She might not be the life of the party, but she makes up for it with her affectionate and loving nature.
Rio would thrive in a calm and quiet household, where she can feel at ease. An active and outdoorsy family would be a great match for her, as she enjoys adventures and exploring the world once she gains confidence. However, her initial shyness means a home with kids aged 12 years and up would be the best fit.
Rio would love to have free access to both indoors and outdoors. A medium to large yard with high secure fencing is preferred.
Rio has a medium to high energy level, especially when she feels comfortable in her surroundings. Daily exercise and walks are essential to keep her physically and mentally stimulated.
Post-adoption training, particularly one-on-one sessions with a professional or behaviour modification training, would be highly beneficial for Rio to boost her confidence and overcome her shyness. She still needs to work on walking well on a leash, but with patience and positive reinforcement, she'll surely improve.
Rio is not particularly motivated by food or toys, but she enjoys personal playtime with her caregivers. Once she forms a strong bond with her humans and feels safe with them, she becomes affectionate and loves cuddles.
As of now, Rio is best suited as the only pet in the household. Her lack of confidence makes her unsure around other dogs, but with the right training and increased confidence, she has the potential to become more socially adept with other dogs in the future.
Rio is a gentle and loving soul looking for someone who will give her the time and understanding she needs to blossom into her true self.
