About Guinness
This handsome, scruffy boy goes by the name of Guinness. If you are looking for an active and cuddly boy then he might be your man.
Now first things first- Guinness came to us from a rural pound. We have no history on his breed mix and when we saw him in the pound we thought he was a wire haired pointer mix, but on arrival he had softer body language and didn’t quite fit the mould. A lot of oodle suggestions have been thrown around, but we are advertising him as a medium mix breed (he's 16kg), like all of our dogs as we don’t breed label. Please do not apply if you are only happy with an oodle, as although we have our suspicions, we cannot guarantee anything so you will have to be happy having a dog that either has a low shedding wiry coat or be non-shedding and need regular grooming - we just can’t tell at this stage as he arrived in very poor shape.
Guinness arrived into care very skinny with no training under his belt. He has been lucky enough to find foster care on a 5 acre property in Sydney which he is loving! He is great with the horses and has been living with 4 other dogs. He is brilliant with the larger dogs, but can be a little snarky with the small dog as it revs him up constantly, something he's not enjoying. He would love to share his home with another friendly and confident, adult, medium to large sized dog. He has been going to the dog park on occasion and will happily play and socialise with all dogs of all sizes whilst there.
Guinness is a love bug. He would snuggle his humans all day if he could. He looks up at you with his gorgeous amber eyes shining through his chocolate fur and he will melt even the hardest of hearts! He absolutely loves working with his people which makes training a breeze. This boy is in that juvenile stage of life where he will push boundaries if allowed. He is great on leash, sleeps overnight in a crate, travels well in the car and is toilet trained. He needs a firm and consistent owner with lots of prior dog handling experience to help him with learning to settle and general obedience. He is the sort of dog who if not given proper routine, boundaries and structure will play by his own rules and as a puppy will not make the best decisions.
Guinness has a lot of amazing attributes and he is such a fun and loving dog to have around. He would make an amazing dog for someone wanting to get a dog for more than just having a pet around for a daily walk. He has so much potential to get into whatever fun activities his owner wants to do. Coming from a rural pound, Sydney life is all new to him. As he is currently living on a rural property, his new owners will need to continue his exposure to the real world in a gentle way guiding him if he gets nervous. He is not a nervous dog by nature, things are just new to him.
Guinness is such a friendly chap and loves everyone he meets. He has met some children and has been great with them, but given he is in juvenile puppy years, we feel it’s better for his new home to be adult only so the focus is placed on his development. We are open to children for a very experienced home with prior involvement in dog activities above standard pet ownership. While he has been great with the livestock, he is not suitable for a home with cats or pocket pets, they just excite him too much. Guinness will need someone home more often than not to help him settle in.
Guinness is just a big baby who is finding his place in the world. His loyal and affectionate nature will make anyone who meet him fall in love. If he was friendly with the cat his foster carers wouldn’t be letting him go as he has made a permanent mark on their hearts. We are looking for dog experienced owners who are looking for an active dog to do lots of fun things with and provide him lots of structure and training. He is not a hard dog to have around, but in the wrong hands he will become a bratty teenager. In the right hands he is a strikingly beautiful, affectionate, trainable, amazing dog.
If you think you can provide this scruffy gem with the fulfilling life he deserves, fill in an adoption application form on our website detailing your previous dog experience and the type of home you can provide our chocolate boy.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
