About Bella - 2 Year Old German Shepherd (Trial)
Introducing Bella! Bella is a 2-year-old purebred German Shepherd and is a loving and devoted girl.
An adorable dog, Bella, mixes it up and can often be found both outside and inside the house. She is just as comfortable lying on the floor while the family watches movies, as she is in the backyard playing tug or hanging out while you are working.
She knows commands like sit, wait, down, spin and will wait for her food till she is released with "okay". Ongoing training would be recommended as she loves to please her owners and learns very quickly with the right motivation. She loves human attention and would do best in a house with older kids and without other dogs. She has previously always lived happily with other dogs, but she is a bit of an attention hog, and would prefer that her forever home was all about her.
It must be stated that she has a strong prey drive (which is typical for the breed), so she would be incompatible with other small pets like cats, rabbits, or birds as she will want to chase them.
She is house trained and is accustomed to being inside, but she is extremely smart. This means that she can open doors (she can currently open every door in the house if not locked) and let herself out for a run if she is bored. This intelligence means she can bore easily, which sometimes results in her digging holes. So, she is best kept amused with bones, tug toys and frequent walks and interaction.
Due to her size, she will need someone who can physically handle walking her appropriate distances. She gets excited at the beginning of walks but settles down to a comfortable walk. She isn't too reactive to other dogs when walking (doesn't lunge or bark) but will need continued socialisation. She loves a walk along the Speers Point Esplanade. She also loves the water, whether it's a play with the hose or a run at Redhead Beach. She gets along well with other dogs who are happy to be chased, she can be a bit timid however, and prefers not to be the one being chased. When meeting new dogs, she can be a bit stand-offish but generally warms up quickly.
Bella is crate trained and sleeps inside, in her crate at night. However, if you feel so inclined, she doesn't shy away from a night of sleep at the end of the bed. She loves to be around people.
Bella is in care in Elermore Vale, NSW and is available for interstate adoption. Her adoption fee is $700 which includes desexing, vaccinations, flea, and worm medication.
