On Hold
About Nawa - Located in Albert Park
Nawa spent her first three years in a high rise flat, with limited mental stimulation & exposure to nature for her bright, inquisitive mind. After kittenhood she reportedly self-isolated from the young children in her home; choosing to confine herself to interaction with adults. No-one recognised her anxiety, they considered her a taciturn & occasionally "spicy" cat. Fortunately, they surrendered Nawa into Neko fostercare before moving overseas in June. Here - after a brief period of decompression to lower her baseline anxiety - she's now thriving & eager to bond with her forever guardian(s).
Nawa's innate sociability, intelligence, curiosity & bravery really came to the fore in fostercare, where she swiftly learned to socialise well with people, dogs & other felines. She hasn't yet found a playful companion cat, but seems to desire this. She's developed a deep love of nature, which she initially found strange & frightening, after highrise life - even bird song seemed unexpected, at first - & she loves to munch fresh grass each day, if she can.
Whilst in care, Nawa has been chipped, desexed, treated for possible parasites & double-vaccinated. She's embraced every opportunity to exercise her senses, build her self-confidence & socialise, proving to be a very affectionate & loyal companion.
Nawa gained around 1/4 of her total body weight & thus improved her body condition in care. She loves her new, quality food, but self-regulates (grazes) & appears unlikely to overeat.
With her naturally sociable nature, Nawa will ideally suit a home where her gentle, patient, equally affectionate guardian(s) are home alot &/or there's a male cat for company. She may not take to younger children due to past experience, but she's fine with respectful children aged 10+. She'll need access to a safe outdoor space for sensory stimulation to keep her happy (just a half hour per day is enough, at present, weather permitting). Her favourite indoor place is probably curled up on, or right beside, her guardian in bed. She enjoys playing with pingpong balls & wand toys & scratching posts.
Nawa is expressive of her likes & dislikes, but easily soothed if upset, when managed respectfully. She behaved very well on her 2nd vet visit & travels fine. She's fairly talkative, with melodic chirps of greeting & will chatter if encouraged. She has a soft & therapeutic purr that helps life's troubles melt away.
So.... if you're ready for an appreciative, clever & friendly (but discerning) rescue cat to enhance your happiness; & you match the outline above (& don't already have a female cat), please complete an enquiry for Nawa, and we'll be in touch, soon.
