About Toby
Hi! my name is Toby, I am quite a handsome man and when you walk me every one will want to pat me, it's a curse you will have to get use to.
I love my bed and when it is time I will put myself to bed, curling up in my blanky I'll see you when breakfast is ready.
I am getting use to car rides. Nana thinks I am an excellent boy, I can cross my legs and not go to the toilet until we arrive.
I loooove my food and will eat anything and that has made me a little chubby.
I want to be your special one and only boy. I want to sit beside you and cuddle I don't mind a bit of rough and tumble too.
Now my legs are mended I like to stroll along, or play chasing with my little sister.
I do not like the cold, like a true Chihuahua you will find me in my bed or in a sun patch .
I am ready to move on to my furever home, and make you smile
Medical notes
10 year old Toby is desexed and microchipped. He is up to date with vaccinations (due Sept 2023) and flea, tick, intestinal worm and heart worm prevention.
Toby had a dental in February and had 11 extractions. Like for all dogs, annual dental checks are important.
In April, he had cruciate surgery on both knees, and has now recovered from that. He also had a previous patella surgery back in 2020 before he came to CRQ. Due to the state his knees have been in for many years, Toby has developed arthritis and this needs to be managed or he won’t be able to continue walking comfortably. He has responded well to the Beransa injections which blocks arthritic pain, and we would recommend a joint supplement such as 4cyte as well to help minimise the progression of his arthritis. Beransa injections are required monthly and cost $115 per month (less with Healthy Pets Plus plans at Greencross Vets)
Toby seems more senior than his 10 years due to his hind leg issues, and requires proper veterinary treatment and care, and a family who understand the challenges that face senior dogs as they age. It is also important he keep his weight down, and has regular light walks to maintain muscle strength.
We offer a complimentary vet check within the trial period so you are welcome to discuss the management of Toby’s arthritis with one of our vets.
