About Ronald weasley
Ron is a beautiful 9 month old groodle with personality in spades.
He needs a little minute to get to know you and warm up (after an initial bark / growl). He is super snuggly and will follow you everywhere around the house. Once you are settled in a room, he settles down happily as well. If you’re up and about, he can take a while to lie down.
He is very quickly getting used to an inside environment, loving comfortable spaces such as his foster sister’s beds and will sleep in a crate overnight – although he would much prefer to sleep in a dog bed beside your bed. Very slow, gentle training is required if you wish for him to be happy in a crate.
Ron can be a little nervous and anxious when meeting new people and dogs and also is just learning to be left on his own. He does settle after some initial vocalisation.
He would be ideally suited to a household with a confident (but not dominant) dog friend, to show him that the world isn’t scary or a family who is home more often than not and willing to take him places to socialise him slowly. As his confidence grows, he will show you the amazing, intelligent man that he is. He is already using the dog door to go in and out, has warmed up to the cat after initially being a bit frightened of him and is getting more comfortable with regular household noises (kettle, vacuum cleaner, washing machine, TV etc).
As with any ‘oodle’, he will require grooming every 6-8 weeks (with tidy ups in between). This can be expensive and you must be prepared for this. He will also require regular brushing. You can also learn to do this yourself.
He has not had formal training but is very quick to learn and eager to please. Ideally training for him will be force free as he is a sensitive soul and responds very well to praise.
He has settled well into his foster home and has had no ‘accidents’ at all. He appears to be toilet trained however, this cannot be guaranteed. You need to be aware of his signs.
He is a super happy guy who just wants to be with you. As he is still a puppy, free access to your house should only be allowed when you are able to supervise him. You should also be prepared to train him early in being left alone as if this is not managed correctly, he has the potential to be turned into an anxious dog. Train and treat him well and you will have a brilliant, happy companion to go through life together.
