About Bambi
Meet Bambi, an adorable 6 kilos of lovable toy poodle/schnauzer who is looking for someone to give her the love and care she so deserves and someone to whom she can cuddle up to and give sweet little kisses. Bambi would love to be an indoor companion. You will be the apple of her eye and she hopes you will adore her in the same way.
Bambi is a very affectionate and loving and would make a lovely little companion for someone who is lonely of seeking a little friend
Bambi has not had a great life and will take a little time to become comfortable with new people. Once she warms to you she is completely relaxed with her new person
She requires a nice quiet relaxed home and we feel without children is best as her previous life was way too noisy for a small little Princess
Bambi does have a fear of men and we are seeking a female home only please
Bambi loves to be near her hooman and enjoys plenty of cuddles. One of her favorite things is to have her belly rubbed. Bambi gets very excited when her hooman comes home and will likely do zoomies around the yard and up and down the couch to show her extreme pleasure. If you arrive home in the car Bambi will run out to greet you and, once your door is open, happily hop inside to welcome you back.

INTERACTION WITH HUMANS
When she came to AK9 Bambi was wary of men. Since being in foster care she has only interacted with women, which has been no issue for her. Bambi will become attached to her hooman quickly. When meeting new people Bambi will interact briefly with them then seek reassurance from her foster mum before feeling completely comfortable around strangers.
OBEDIENCE/TRAINING
Little Bambi does not appear to have had much training in the past and on the leash tends to walk behind and around you. Whilst she enjoys her walks she will sometimes look to her hooman for reassurance and will at times want to be picked up. Bambi will grow in confidence the more walks she experiences. Bambi needs further training to learn commands such as âsitâ and âstayâ. At first she may have a few accidents in her new hoomanâs home but with extra encouragement she will toilet outside. Bambi has excellent recall when off-leash. She will also happily sit in her car seat whilst you drive her to your or her destination such as Petbarn which has become a new adventure for her.
ANIMAL SOCIAL SKILLS
Whilst in foster care Bambi has enjoyed the company of her older foster brother, a Kelpie cross, however she is not comfortable around jumpy, larger dogs. Bambi has been to a dog park whilst in foster care where she enjoyed trotting alongside her foster brother and investigating the various smells. However when more boisterous canines came near she looked to her foster mum to pick her up as this was too overwhelming for her. She shows interest in dogs of a similar size and is confident to approach them. Bambi will bark at dogs walking past the window but quickly settle down. Cockatoos and magpies have visited the fosterâs backyard but Bambi is content to watch from the sidelines. She is untested with cats.
FOOD
Upon arriving into care it was discovered that Bambi needed 7 teeth extracted. Since her dental she has been eating very well although, as with any princess of Bambiâs caliber, she can be a little fussy. She has been enjoying wet chicken with cheese topping, occasional roast chicken treats and premium dry food. Any other treats are happily received!
INDEPENDENCE
Bambiâs foster mum is home a lot however has at times left Bambi for up to 5 hours once per week. There has been no indication of separation anxiety although she will most certainly let you know how ecstatic she is once youâre home! You may also find that an item or two or yours that reminds her of you has been repositioned in the home.
BATHING & HYGIENE
Bambi came into care looking bedraggled and unhappy and certainly in need of a groom. The transformation in her personality was instantaneous once her matts and dirty skin had been tended to; her after photo says it all. Bambi is not a huge fan of a sponge bath or having her feet washed/touched although will tolerate it.
SLEEPING
Bambi spent the first two nights in her foster home in her crate, where she slept happily and then progressed to sleeping with her hooman on her bed. Bambi will sleep beside you on the couch until you are ready to retire for the evening, then follow you to bed. She will wake up whenever her hooman family arises.
EXERCISE
Bambi has been going for walks once or twice a day for around 30 minutes at a time. She has not shown any interest in toys. Being of such a small size this little poppet does not need a lot of exercise.
INSIDE THE HOME
Bambi is definitely an indoor kinda girl and is happy to lay on the couch or anywhere near her person. She is very well-behaved inside the home.
We are definitely seeking a home that will keep her indoors
IDEAL HOME
A home with a female owner or owners who is home more often than not would be ideal. Being such a petite homebody Bambi will be happy with a small home and/or backyard although would not say no to a larger abode. Bambi will be okay living as an only dog or with another dog of similar size or with a calm temperament.
A home that will keep her inside and take her for a daily walk
