Meet Banira, our golden, rolly, polly, puddle of love.

Banira wants nothing more in this life than to be near her humans and make them happy. When you walk in the door she often greets you with a big doofy grin.

We don’t think she ever got to be a proper puppy in her former life. She has been able to play and express herself while in foster care but is prone to occasional moments of puppiness when she gets excited (jumping up and mouthing, zoomies etc).

This bouncy girl has been working on her manners whilst in care, learning she needs to sit down (not bounce up) for affection, wait politely for her food and go to her bed when directed. Her desire to please means she is easily corrected. She is a saint in the car (you could almost forget she’s there sometimes) and is working on her on lead manners (she is sometimes so overtaken with the pure joy of being on a walk she will fling herself up in the air like some sort of ballerina dancing mini hippo).

Banira LOVES people, and LOVES kids. She would like cuddle 24/7. She has spent time with her foster carers young niece and nephew while in care and loves following them around and covering them with kisses. However given her bounciness and wiggly booty she can risk barrelling over and intimidating younger kids.

Banira loves meeting other dogs, but sometimes her over excitement can be off putting to them. And if she comes across a dog giving off bad vibes, she will match their energy. She is not cat or pocket pet friendly (they look too much like her soft toys).

While she is dog friendly, while in care she has shown some food resource guarding around her foster brother. She also doesn’t like feeling boxed and crowded in by larger dogs and will respond in fear if she feels cornered. For this reason, we believe she is best suited as an only dog, or if she is to go to a house with another dog, it must be with an experienced owner that can work with her on these reactions.

Banira’s foster parents both work full time and while she has coped being home alone, she has shown a tendency to cry a little when they leave, and dig (she has learnt to focus on her dig pit rather than the garden) and chew on her beds when bored, though this only an outside behaviour. Ideally she would have someone around her more often than not, as she is truly a companion dog.

We would love to see Banira get a proper fresh start in life, one where her new family invest time in a ‘re-do’ for her and take her to further training. She had puppies very early and doesn’t seem to have had a the kindest first year and half of life, but despite this she is one of the sweetest and most affectionate dogs you could ever hope to adopt.
