Grab a cuppa and a comfy chair, you've got some reading to do.
Meet Coco the clown. She is gifted in the art of extracting laughter in any unexpected moment. She is just a little package with a personality as big as a bear. She is very much a puppy in so many delightful ways. The world is new to her and apparently just a playground with so many things to explore and chases to be had, and yup, things to chew.
Coco is full of potential. Her ability to learn new behaviours and boundaries so quickly is incredible. She is a smart cookie, less than a week ago she was not even sure what her own name was, yet today she pops her head up just happy that someone spoke to her.
Since being with her half way people, Coco has learnt that the toilet is outside, as Ive said she is still very much a puppy so there has been an occasional accident, but she βgets itβ. This is where her forever people come in, she will need a little fine tuning. Coco is a smart girl, and as smart girls go, she learns boundaries very quick, and will knock on them to find a loop hole. This is entertainment in itself. She is not looking to outsmart us, though that is often the result.
The truth is she is just really eager to learn and understand. In less than a week Coco, who loves to play rope tug, has learned that the tassels on the throw rugs are not the same as a rope toy, actually this only took one reprimand, she has learned that the cushions on the lounge are not the same as chew and destroy toy, big beds are for people, there is a dog bed for her.
Coco is still a little confused with this whole shoe thing although, she has expensive tastes, the outdoor crocks at the door are safe, the orthopedics donβt exist anymore.
Her forever people will probably want to puppy proof for a bit. Honestly this is a big part of the joy in bringing a puppy home. It really is funny coming home to find a trail of every toy in the house from front to back, and seeing her cute little face all lit up with joy. Try rousing on her and she just looks at you with them ears. Yes them ears, they match her smartness. Donβt look at me with them ears Coco, I'm trying to be mad with you.
Coco is a very loyal little girl. She practices being protective, she is loving her half way people and wants to keep them safe, God love her. She has quickly learned what noises belong here and outside and what ones donβt belong. She will tell you and let that intruder know to get real far away now. This is why she really needs to find her forever people as soon as possible, this baby deserves to give her best to her real people. Coco will take her ques from you when its right and when its not, believe me this will take her no time.
Coco will go from full on to stop in the beat of a heart. As much as she loves playing, and appearing relentless as that, she will girl up in your lap in an instant. A person cannot sit down without that warm loving feeling. Coco physically weighs nothing but when shes not there on you, it feels like there is something missing. Having Coco around also means you will never walk alone again. Careful closing doors behind you because a minute later there will be a little knock from the other side panty door, no she was not as interested in whats in there as she is just being with you.
She needs her forever people so that she knows she will never be alone again. She will learn this quick enough, I promise. Interestingly, she is not a trip hazard. Somehow she has mastered the art of walking on your heals without you knowing she is there, very clever really.
Coco has a dog friend here at her half way peoples place. She learns from him so well, thankfully heβs a good boy and happy to play with her as much as he can. She does outplay him so the poor boy is exhausted. There has been times when we have had to tell Coco ourselves when she did not take the hint. She is a puppy so this will get better, we have seen improvement already.
Coco has met a number of other dogs in her stay here and has been happy to make friends with all of them. Coco has displayed some signs of dominate dogginess to other dogs, this is no way at all in an aggressive way, just a few blocking moves here and there, but the fact is she does not know here place here and is just trying to find it, this is something she will soon learn in her forever home.
You're out there somewhere Coco's forever family. She deserves you and is such a good girl with loads of potential. Somethings not right in the world when this baby is not with her own people.
When meeting one of our animals in care, please remember that some animals can take time to adjust to new people and environments no matter how friendly and loving they really are. We ask you to keep this in mind when meeting any of our animals at meet βnβ greets (and when you take them home) and not rule them out straight away just because they are not all over you at the first meeting. You could miss out on the most wonderful companion. π
Adoption details
We ask that before you apply for one of our animals, you take the time to think through all aspects of having a pet in your home to ensure it is the right thing for both your family and the animal, now and in the future. Please consider how you would approach changes in your home that may affect your pet and how dedicated you would be to keeping/helping your animal when faced with any issues that may arise in the future.
