About Hades
******************APPLY AT www.gsrv.com.au ******************************
Hades is a big, beautiful goofball, he is 12 months old and is still a giant puppy! Hades has found himself in the shelter, looking for a forever home due to no fault of his own, he is very unsettled in the kennel environment, we want to get him out ASAP before his behaviour deteriorates.
Hades LOVES people, he doesn’t realise his size and will try to cuddle and kiss everyone he meets, jumping up and mouthing in complete excitement and utter bliss that humans are choosing to spend time with him. Hades has little in the way of manners and may accidentally knock over small children, he is best suited to a home where everyone is over the age of 8 years old and who have experience living with a large-breed, boisterous dog.
Hades loves to play and interact with his humans, he is very people focused and wants to please, he is motivated by both treats and toys, however roast chicken is the key to his heart. Hades knows his basic commands, but still has a lot to learn, he needs to work on his impulse control primarily so that he can fine-tune his manners and foundation skills. Hades would thrive attending obedience training that uses positive rewards as a motivator, not only will his obedience progress, but this will be a great way to work on his socialisation too.
Hades is a strong boy, both in mind and body, he pulls on the lead towards whatever it is he wants to get to and will require a physically capable handler that can work on his leash skills. Hades is not suited to a first-time dog owner, his new family must have experience with large-breed dogs, particularly young, boisterous dogs that like to push the boundaries. Hades’ new family must be committed to his ongoing training and ensure that each family member is on the same page, ready to give Hades the structure, routine, and boundaries he so desperately needs.
Hades has not had a lot of experience with other dogs, his first instinct is to rush up to them to say hello. This behaviour isn’t appreciated by most dogs, particularly because of Hades large size. With gradual introductions, Hades has been working on interacting and greeting other dogs in a calmer manner and has had some success with this, even being able to go off-lead with other dogs. Hades may be suited to living with an older, large breed dog that is confident, calm, and ready to help teach Hades some doggy manners. Hades is not suited to living with small dogs, purely due to his size and clumsy nature, he has not been tested with cats or small animals.
Hades is an active boy that loves to play and get into mischief, he loves playing with the hose, burying his bones, and finding things to get into. Hades will need plenty of physical exercise in his new home along with plenty of mental stimulation to keep his sharp mind busy. Hades would love to engage in treat dispensing toys, games such as hide and seek the treat, kongs, snuffle mats and any other self-rewarding enrichment, he will also do well undertaking regular short training sessions at home to get him thinking and using his brain!
Hades has a wonderful temperament, he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, he is just a big pup that doesn’t realise his size. Hades has not had the best start and has been ignored out in the backyard, he is looking for a second chance with someone that will cherish his goofball antics and will help him become the amazing gentle giant we know he is. The sky is the limit for this beautiful boy, if someone is willing to put in the time and training into him, he will make the most wonderful companion.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
