About Pumpernickel
PUMPERNICKEL
A dopple ganger of his mum Shara
Pumpernickelās favorite things involve anything to do with playtime. That could be toys, dogs, sticks, leaves in the yard, or anything he thinks heās pinched from another dog. He especially loves to play with other dogs and tries to entice them into a game at any opportunity.
Pumpernickel is a playful little boy with an attitude. He loves to do his best guard dog impression and put on his big boy bark when he hears new sounds for the first time. He is now ready for anything and loves to play with anyone, although he still takes a little time to be confident around new people.
Mummy ā Sharas is Micro Chipped as a Coonhound x and is knee height and Pumpernickel is at a guess probably going to be a little taller around Mums height so lets say med to large
Shara has an incredible gentle soft temperament so if Pumpernickel is like her Mum he will make an incredible addition to any family

INTERACTION WITH HUMANS:
While a little shy when meeting someone new for the first time, after some time to warm up Pumpernickel is a happy go lucky puppy who loves attention. He is bouncy and playful, but not rough or nippy and when playtime is over he loves to snuggle.
OBEDIENCE/TRAINING:
Pumpernickel is fairly food oriented and should be relatively easy to train away from the distractions of a busy house full of so many other animals. He is good with using his puppy pads inside and likes to do his business hidden away in the garden when he is outside. He definitely listens when told no.
ANIMAL SOCIAL SKILLS:
A more social little boy you wouldnāt come across. Pumpernickel loves to play with any dog regardless of their size, will have a bit of rough and tumble and is usually pretty keen on a tug-o-war. He doesnāt understand when other dogs growl however, and just continues to wag his tail and try to entice play.
FOOD:
Currently eating quality puppy food and is fed with his sibling. He has shown zero food aggression, even when his sister would āmuscleā him out of the way of the bowl using her surgery cone to block his access.
Very excited also by anything new such as chicken or a liver treat.
INDEPENDENCE:
Pumpernickel is extremely social but is also content to explore the backyard at length and is happy to let you know when he would like to return inside. With a variety of toys, he will keep himself occupied. He has rarely been completely alone so far though, usually having his sibling or another resident dog with him.
SLEEPING:
Pumpernickel has been sleeping in a crate overnight with his sibling. They will gladly take themselves in there at bedtime and have a play before settling down for the night. They rarely make a peep for at least 8-10 hours, sometimes using the puppy pads in their crate during the night if needed while holding the messy business for the morning.
EXERCISE:
Due to his age, he has not been on walks but being an energetic puppy, Pumpernickel will need room to play and will require mental stimulation as well. His current routine is along the lines of eat-play-nap-repeat!
INSIDE THE HOME:
Pumpernickel is more than happy to be inside where the action is. He lets you know when he wants to come in, but is not yet quite at the stage of letting you know when he needs to go out although heās good at using his puppy pads indoors. While too small to jump on the couch, we can definitely see heās more than interested in trying!
IDEAL HOME:
Pumpernickel would best fit into a home that already has another dog, although this is not a must. He hasnāt shown much interest in the resident cats so could also go to a home with dog-savvy cat/s. He would also enjoy some smaller humans to play with but as long as thereās enough love to go around, he wonāt be too fussed where it comes from!
Adoption Criteria
A home with a medium to large backyard with grass, shelter, and secure fencing.
A home with or without children, they must be dog savvy children who can handle puppy behavior.
A home with or without another dog.If another dog is in residence already we seek a Female of medium to large size who is well socialized and tolerant of puppy behavior.
A daily walk. Short walks while he is a puppy and her bones are developing. A moderate-long walk when is older and has more energy to burn.
A lot of love and training! Pumpernickel Should be welcomed as part of the family and not just left on his own in the backyard all the time. His owner should dedicate time to training and take him to puppy classes
He is young enough to learn if you have a dog savvy cat
We recommend children in the home to have prior dog / puppy exposure before your family applies for a young pups puppies do teeth and have sharp little puppy teeth
He will require proper puppy training. He is such a joy. As he grows and explores, he will need continuous training with commitment and patience and understanding from his new family. With that, he is going to be one fantastic addition to the family!
