About Baby & Penny
Introducing the beautiful Penny & Baby! These girls are mother & daughter and both Maltese x's. Penny was born 3rd July 2014 & Baby was born 1st July 2016.
These sweet ladies were brought in as unmicrochipped strays. It turns out their "finders" were actually their owners who didn't want to deal with them anymore. Both girls have clearly been neglected & were/are not great shape.
Luckily, Baby was only dealing with a flea infestation, mange & severely over-grown nails which we have now clipped & started treatment for.
Penny, however is a different story. Sweet little Penny is mostly, if not completely blind & the vets think she is possibly deaf or partly deaf as well. She has two suspicious lumps on her chest which will be checked to see if they are cancerous. She also has arthritis is both of her back hips, a UTI, mange & her front kneecaps are loose. The vets have said her arthritis & patellas aren't bad enough that they will require medication, however this may change in the future.
Penny & Baby will need to be bathed with Malaseb every second day to continue their mange treatment. Treatment can take anywhere from weeks to months.
Both girls are slowly learning to trust humans, but they will need a calm & patient owner who is willing to continue working on their confidence around new people & environments. As they clearly have a lot going on (both mentally & physically), we feel it best they go to a home with no small children.
Baby tested quite well with other dogs, however Penny did not. Given the fact that Penny is at least mostly blind & possibly deaf as well, this could be an instinctive, defensive reaction. As these girls need to be rehomed together, they will need to be the only dogs at home.
Penny & Baby were both unfazed by cats & pocket pets. If given a slow & controlled introduction, we believe they could happily live with cats & smaller pets at home.
Neither girl has shown no signs of separation anxiety (as long as they're together) or food aggression while at the facility.
Their adoption fee is $600 and includes their desexing, lifetime registration & current vaccination. They have also regularly treated for flea and worms.
