About Bonny
Introducing Bonny, the gorgeous and cheeky 10 month old Kelpie . Bonny is now seeking her forever home.
With her stunning Chocolate and Tan colors and her typical lightweight size of 14 kilos this precious little girl is a stunner
This energetic gorgeous girl is a little Kelpie with the most divine softest coat. You’ll just want to keep patting her and that is definitely fine by her! Bonny will lap up any pats, with her beautiful iconic ears that stand up waiting to be twirled and played with, this little sweetie is just waiting for a family that she can call her own.
Favorite things:
Bonny’s favorite things include going for walks, enjoying all the smells and sights. She especially enjoys spending time being close to her foster family. Whether that is playing chase in the backyard with her little foster family kids whilst hopping around like a kangaroo on her back legs (LOL!), or curling up on the rug in front of the TV or beside her humans on the couch for an evening snuggle.

Interactions with other animals:
Even though Bonny starts off very timid, she does interact well with other dogs. She doesn't like dogs growling or barking at her - but then really who does!.
When meeting a new dog, she starts off a little cautious but inquisitive. Once she is given the green light with a friendly response from the other dog, she loves to play.
If the other dog isn’t as receptive and growls at her, she may give out a growl and bark. So definitely slow introductions are needed with other social, friendly dogs.
Human interactions:
Bonny loves all kinds of human interactions. She can initially be timid however once she settles in, she relaxes and comes out of her shell. She loves being around children, is calm and not too jumpy at all considering she is only 10 months old. She is currently being fostered in a home with children as young as 5 years old and loves the energy that they bring.
Obedience:
Bonny has come into foster care with not much obedience. She is still learning her name with little recall activities and regular use of her name with reward for even the littlest of responses. Sitting for meals and whilst out walking is another thing we are working on. Bonny will need ongoing training and would absolutely need to be in a family with extensive dog experience.
Hygiene and Toileting:
Bonny is pretty well toilet trained and she can hold on for very long periods of time.
Grooming is so easy with this beauty as she has a lovely soft, low maintenance coat and she does love a gentle brush.
Sleeping:
Bonny sleeps well in either the laundry all night or her crate with the door open outside all night. No barking or whimpering. She tends to get tucked into bed around 10pm and will happily sleep in until 6-7am when her foster family are up for the day.
Independence:
Bonny is a very clever and independent girl. She will spend most of her days outside exploring the backyard, napping and watching the people walk past while her foster family are working or at school. She gets very excited to see her foster family arrive home and will eagerly await to be let inside.
Exercise:
Bonny enjoys her daily walks with her foster mum. She starts off a bit pully on the lead which we are working on, but then after a little while she calms down and walks nicely on lead.
Whilst Bonny does enjoy her walks, she doesn’t seem to be like a typical Kelpie where she has loads of energy to burn.
Whilst her time in our care, we haven’t noticed her to be destructive in any way.
Travel:
Whilst in our care, Bonny has had a few short trips in the car and seems to travel quite well.
She can be a little reluctant to get in the car, however once in she is fine. As soon as the door/boot opens though, she is keen to dive out to explore her surroundings.
Food:
Bonny is currently fed puppy dry food with some wet food mixed and gets 2 meals a day. We are slowly increasing her dry food and reducing the wet. She doesn’t seem very food oriented and often grazes on her morning meal throughout the day.
Inside the home:
Bonny is very well behaved when inside. She likes to explore and takes a little while to settle but is happy to find a comfy spot to curl up. She is not destructive to furniture or belongings.
Ideal home:
Fully fenced, good sized yard to run around and explore, with sufficient shelter from the elements
A family with a lot of dog experience, who are willing to commit the time to continue training Bonny to be the best dog she can be
A family that has plenty of love and affection to give to, and receive from this gorgeous girl
If another dog in the home, will need to be a friendly, well socialized male
You’ll fall in love with Bonny girl; the sweetest girl who we think in the right home, will just thrive!
