About Barry STA011414
Barry is an extraordinary gentleman whose story is one that you could not and would not ever want to make up. He has been through unimaginable injuries but still has incredible trust and love for the human race.
Barry came to us a stray, at first look he appeared no different to any other cat that has come in our care. Further routine Veterinary assessment showed the horrific injuries that Barry had sustained whilst living on the streets. We believe Barry may have been hit by a car, his x-rays revealed previously broken; Tibia, Pelvis, Sternum, Tail and Teeth, which healed without Veterinary assistance. He has had extensive dental work done to remove the broken teeth and clean his few remaining ones. And to add insult to injury, Barry also has a slug in his shoulder. Miraculously what has not broken is Barry’s spirit nor his huge loving heart.
The time has come to find Barry’s happy ending. Barry is an absolute delight to be with, he is a very calm and easy-going gentleman who is incredibly affectionate and loves cuddles, kisses and food.
Every staff member at CPS wants to adopt Barry but obviously we are all at capacity in our own homes, and as much as we would love him to live at the Shelter Barry deserves his very own home.
Barry’s adoption is by application only. If you believe you can give Barry his perfect forever home please email adopt@catprotection.com.au with as much detail as possible about yourself and family including answers to the following –
Have you owned a cat previously?
What sort of home environment could you provide Barry?
When you go on holidays, what will you do with Barry?
Is someone home most of the time?
Will Barry be indoor / outdoor?
Do you have any other animals?
Is your home single or double story?
What are most of your floor coverings?
Short listed applicants will be contacted.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
