About Dobermann Maya
This beautiful female Dobermann is in search of a loving home filled with experienced Dobermann enthusiasts or large breed lovers who can provide her with the companionship and leisurely strolls she craves. She is an absolute delight and seeks kindness and care from her human companions. What an amazing snuggle buddy she is!
Through no fault of her own, she is in need of a mature and caring individual or couple, preferably those who spend a significant amount of time at home or work remotely.
With her loving nature and gentle disposition, she embodies the traits we expect from the Dobermann breed. Maya adores adults and calm children, and she is well-acquainted with car rides, finding joy in any destination. Although she enjoys car rides, her love for tennis balls of all sizes surpasses that!
Maya proudly announces, "No one can approach the driveway or reach the front door without my alert barks! I am an excellent deterrent, yet I'm a big softie once properly introduced!"
Maya has never spent a night outside and, as part of the adoption agreement, we require her new home to provide a warm indoor sleeping environment with comfortable beds. Our Dobermanns are raised in foster homes, ensuring they learn proper manners, are toilet trained, and maintain cleanliness indoors. Maya is no exception. She is a pleasure to walk for those accustomed to handling Dobermanns or large breeds.
It's important to prevent her from overeating as she has a partial tear in her right rear leg, which necessitates keeping her lean throughout her life. No surgery is required, and her rehabilitation involves the temporary use of knee or hock braces which we provide to homes on loan for a nominal monthly fee.
Maya has received hydrotherapy and cold laser therapy, which have proven effective. She can sprint past you effortlessly and loves a good run however, we are seeking a home that can help her maintain a lean physique and enjoy walks around the neighbourhood local beach or oval. After her walks, she always appreciates a muscle spray, chewing on tennis balls, and basking in the sun on the grass during sunny afternoons.
Maya is fond of her beds and displays excellent manners when asking for treats and cuddles. She would be an ideal companion for someone seeking warmth, companionship, and devotion.
On warm days, Maya enjoys lounging in the sun and revels in your presence if you’re a gardener. She is highly alert to those around her, and responds well to vocal commands. We can assist you in training her to bark at specific sounds using our effective methods for quick responses found in our 12 page Dobermann Arrival Pack booklet with each adoption.
Maya is motivated by treats but loves tennis balls even more! Since treats can lead to weight gain, we recommend relying on balls, lots of tennis balls, as the preferred reward.
On Sunday, July 9th, Maya completed a 4 km walk, and today she's been happily sunning herself with a delightful beef bone. Tonight, Monday 10th July she'll eagerly join in another walk, albeit a shorter one (approximately 1/2 km), which is fantastic for her socialisation and exploration of her local area. She can usually walk for 4kms every 2 to 3 days with shorter walks in between.
When she returns home, Maya will be ready for scratches, belly rubs, and full-body cuddles and light restful snoring. She enjoys wearing dog coats and has developed a fondness for a few favourites!
Maya is an absolute delight to have in her foster home as she gets along well with other Dobermanns and does currently live with smaller dogs. After initial introductions to smaller animals in a mature setting, Maya quickly becomes happy and calm with dogs of the same temperament.
While Maya is good with other larger dogs this can lead her to be overlooked due to her gentle personality. Rough play will large breed dogs (male or female) is not ideal for her long term unless your current dog is gentle and mature.
We, as a rescue, hope to find someone who will prioritise Maya as their top companion, ensuring her continued health and undivided loyalty to you, she would do exceptionally well as the sole dog in the household or with little dogs.
Prepare to fall head over heels for Maya – she possesses the most charming face, large round eyes, and carries herself with grace and politeness in our foster home.
At our rescue, we attend to all of our Dobermanns' health issues before they are placed in new homes and while we want to ensure that you are aware of how to manage them without incurring significant future costs, we are transparent about their issues so you can make informed decisions.
We understand the expenses associated with veterinary care and strive to ensure each Dobermann is in sound health before being rehomed.
We are committed to providing ongoing support to each Dobermann throughout their life, offering guidance whenever you may need it and a point of contact when needed and all of our experience and support of course.
Maya will be sent to her new home with an "on-loan knee/hock brace/s" to aid in her complete recovery, along with topical sprays effective in managing her knee’s recovery, included in her arrival package including two beds and her favourite blankets and toys.
She will undoubtedly find her way into your heart in no time. Maya is very active and simply wants to be by your side throughout the day. We sincerely hope you will consider welcoming her into your life as your forever best friend.

We follow up with a phone call, to discuss your application and build a relationship with you so we get to know your needs and that of the Dobermann we may have in mind for your situation.
We will do a home check before we approve the adoption and a second phone call/facetime to finalize any outstanding questions you or we may have.
We will ask for your vet's name and contact details as a reference.
Once we approve the adoption, the fee is paid, and we generate the paperwork in compliance with local councils and registration pertinent to each state where the approved home is.
