About Rosie
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Rosie
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Mixed Breed (possibly some terrier and hound)
Breed Traits: Terriers come in all shapes and sizes and many were bred for farm work or ratting. Today they are mainly companions. Terriers are generally high energy, very bright and quick to learn but can be stubborn. They have strong personalities and a sense of fun and want to be included in everything you do. Don't take on a terrier unless you really do want a companion.
Hounds are generally bred for hunting so they are medium to large and have endurance. They are known to be docile, friendly and affectionate but do need socialisation with dogs from an early age. They have a high prey drive and will wander or chase if given the chance so need to be well contained. They love to be near their person and don't like to be left alone for long periods of time.
****************************************************************
ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, devoted, eager to please, obedient, confident and very sweet! Rosie has settled beautifully into foster care and is a delight to have around.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Rosie loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home. She enjoys chasing balls and will do zoomies in the back yard. She loves affection and will sleep in the strangest, contorted positions!
ENDEARING FEATURES: Rosie has a beautiful gentle nature and will look lovingly into your eyes when having cuddle time. She also has sweet soft ears that often fold back completely on her head!
OTHER ANIMALS: Rosie loves the company of other friendly dogs who will run and play chase with her. She lives in close proximity to chickens in an enclosure and canaries in a large cage but shows no interest in either. We would not recommend Rosie living with a cat as she is a chaser and hasn't experienced a cat in her young life.
GENERAL INFO: Rosie walks quietly on her lead and is housetrained. She loves to chew on her toys and only really barks when playing with the other dogs in her foster home. Rosie travels well in the car, doesn't like loud noises and isn't a fan of people in hi-viz jackets. She's doing great with her command training and is very obedient and eager to learn. Rosie has been in care with a retired lady so has rarely been left on her own - she loves people company and wouldn't cope alone for long periods.
ESSENTIALS for Rosie:
** a loving home where someone is there for most of the day or can take her with them when going out
** a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night
**Rosie could live with another young dog of similar size that she can play with
** a decent sized garden where she can run, play, sniff and explore
** attendance at puppy/dog school and continued training into adulthood for her to learn and grow confidence - Rosie missed out on early puppy foundation work so would really benefit from constructive positive learning - this is a commitment we will expect from her new owner
**Rosie has bursts of energy at present and we envisage she will be medium to high energy as an adult dog
Rosie has not lived with or experienced children and can startle at loud nosies. We therefore feel that she would do best in an active adult home or possibly with dog-savvy children over 12 years of age.
If Rosie sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
