About Zeus Rivero
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/about-vicdrg/adoption-and-foster-application-forms.html
Meet Zeus, a young at heart toy poodle who loves long walks along the beach and trying new things like learning tricks.
However Zeus does have anxiety that is managed through routine and medication. While he does have some specific anxiety triggers he is learning how to calm himself down and is very quick to adapt to new training provided it is implemented with consistency (for example consistent verbal commands paired with hand gestures). That being said he will still have some episodes where he will be chompy, but he is getting better at giving warning signs like growling so you can give him space to calm down.
We are looking for an experienced and patient dog owner who can provide Zeus with a calm and structured environment. A home with a secure yard where he can feel safe and explore at his own pace would be ideal. He needs someone who understands his triggers and can gradually introduce him to new experiences, helping him build confidence and trust.
Zeus is very much a solo dog and is very protective of his humans. This is seen through behaviours such as barking at other dogs while out on walks and circling round his people on walks to check you are still there.
Zeus loves playing with people he trusts, such as tug of war, fetch or chase. He is also very curious and would love someone who could work with him on agility or similar to keep his brain entertained.
We recommend a home without small children or other pets, as Zeus requires a calm and quiet environment to help him relax and overcome his anxiety. It's essential that his new family is committed to providing ongoing socialization and training to help him develop the skills he needs to thrive.
We believe that with the right adopter, he can become a wonderful and devoted family member. If you have experience with anxious dogs and are willing to put in the time and effort to help Zeus overcome his fears, we would love to hear from you.
If you're ready to open your heart and home to Zeus, please contact us to discuss further. Together, we can work towards helping Zeus become the confident and happy little poodle he has the potential to be. Your love and patience will make a world of difference in his life.
Let's give Zeus the second chance he deserves!

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
