About Aquila
Aquila is an absolute pleasure! She is a confident and cheeky puppy who loves to play with her sister and big Red Heeler foster brother. She loves the company of her foster mummy too. She loves to run around and play chasey with her little sister and have fights. She also likes to explore outside. She is loving and will melt you with those puppy eyes.
Aquila came to us from a country pound at 6 weeks and we were informed she was a Border Collie x and we are pretty sure we can possibly see a hint of staffy in there too.She is currently just 5,5 kilos so we think she will grow into a med size at full growth
PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM AND JUNK FOLDERS FOR YOUR APPLICATION ONCE YOU HAVE SENT YOUR
OBEDIENCE
Aquila is in the midst of learning to sit although at the moment it is hit and miss as she just wants to play lol. She is a good girl and will come most of the time when called. She has learnt to go to the toilet on her puppy pad and outside although she still has accidents.
DOG SOCIALIZATION
Aquila has been introduced to an adult mastiff, an adult Labrador, and is used to her foster brother, a Red Heeler. She is always ready to play. She does not have any fear thus far, and not too afraid of the loud barking from the big doggo next door. She absolutely loves people and cuddles and is generally gentle with all adults, although those growing puppy teeth are becoming sharp and she wants to gnaw on fingers. Therefore, a family with children above the age of seven years and a medium male would suit.
ENRICHMENT
Aquila absolutely loves to play and run. She loves to chase her puppy sister and play fight with her. She likes to pounce and hide. She likes her toys however, much prefers the company of her foster mum, sibling and foster brother. She will then take herself off to bed in her crate for a nap. Then she will repeat her activities and then repeat the cycle of a nap after as well as her feeding times. She loves to be outside with her sibling and foster brother or inside with them and her foster mummy. She loves company and I feel another dog that is VERY TOLERANT of a puppy will be suitable for a family with no pets but have children above the age of 5 years.
VISITORS
Aquila enjoys cuddles from visitors and they will instantly fall in love with her! She loves the attention looking up at everyone adoringly with those beautiful puppy eyes.
INSIDE
Aquila is crate trained and has had the freedom of a large living area as well as being out on an undercover built in veranda. She has also played with her sister in a large playpen indoors. She has not yet been tried using a puppy door. She has not touched the furniture which has been a blessing! What a good puppy! However, she does like to chew and has picked up a sock or shoe here and there and run off with it! She is teething and just like any baby, will want to chew on things other than her chew toys. She likes to get up at around 7am and enjoys her first meal before a play and then settles herself in the crate for a nap. This is repeated throughout each day up until approximately 9pm when she settles in the crate and sleeps all through the night. Having said this, she has been sharing a crate with her sibling and therefore may have a couple of sooky nights so patience will be needed from her new family. She has not been destructive with her toys, even when left for a few hours or half a day in the playpen/crate. Aquila is very active and has energy to burn.
OUTSIDE
Aquila likes being outside with company. PLEASE KEEP PLANTS and any nasties out of her way as she is a normal and curious pup who likes to explore! Apart from thatâŠ.there are no concerns!
SLEEPING HABITS
Aquila has settled when sleeping with her sibling in their crate. She likes to have a couple of hours play and then about an hoursâ nap in between. She is a baby so her naps are important!
TRAVELING IN THE CAR
Aquila has been fine on the few car trips she has had. She falls asleep or lays down quietly without issue.
FOOD
Aquila loves her Premium puppy kibble which she can chew well. She has a good few handfuls at this stage three to four times per day. She tends to have a snooze once her belly is full.
Adoption Criteria
A home with a medium to large backyard with grass, shelter, and secure fencing.
A home with or without children, they must be dog savvy children who can handle puppy behavior.
A home with or without another dog.If another dog is in residence already we seek a Male of medium to large size who is well socialized and tolerant of puppy behavior.
A daily walk. Short walks while he is a puppy and her bones are developing. A moderate-long walk when is older and has more energy to burn.
A lot of love and training! Aquila Should be welcomed as part of the family and not just left on her own in the backyard all the time. Her owner should dedicate time to training and take hr to puppy classes
She is young enough to learn if you have a dog savvy cat
We recommend children in the home to have prior dog / puppy exposure before your family applies for a young pups puppies do teeth and have sharp little puppy teeth
Please take good note of this section. Aquila is an energetic and cheeky loving girl. Ideally her family will enjoy taking her on walks and have a large yard where she can run and play with shade and shelter although she loves sleeping inside. She will require proper puppy training. She is such a joy. As she grows and explores, she will need continuous training with commitment and patience and understanding from her new family. With that, she is going to be one fantastic addition to the family!
