About Wilbur
** IN FOSTER CARE IN MARRICKVILLE **
Introducing Wilbur: Loyal Family Member; Fetch Enthusiast
Are you ready to open your heart and home to a devoted and playful companion? Do you enjoy having an athletic and energetic dog, but also can't resist an evening of cuddles on the couch? If this sounds like you, then look no further than Wilbur, a charming 5-year-old Border Collie who is the perfect combination of playful, loving, and intelligent.
Wilbur is an athlete and his preferred sport is fetch. He is keen to demonstrate his skills whether at the park or at home, with a ball or a soft toy. He is devoted to his family showing love by welcoming you home with a whole body wag and providing you company whether you’re working from home or out on a stroll around the neighbourhood.
Wilbur is a gentle natured dog and has spent his early years as a well-loved family member. His next family will love him dearly and treat him like a member of the family, and in return he will reward them with loyalty, enthusiasm, and great cuddles.
Wilbur is a bit nervous around new people, but earning his trust is so worth it!

MY IDEAL HOME: Wilbur's ideal home would be one where he is the only pet, and has a calm and nurturing environment. Wilbur can be a bit nervous around new people, and in busy environments. He is eager to please and has shown his confidence improve when supported with positive reinforcement training. He would benefit from a family willing to continue this.
Additionally, a home with a securely fenced yard would provide him with ample space to play and explore.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Wilbur currently has two walks a day (including a morning fetch session), but is quite good at relaxing outside of this. His absolute favourite activity is fetch, and he will go, and go, and go until he drops, so his family need to recognise when he is getting tired so he doesn’t over exert himself. Wilbur is an early riser and he will wake you up in the morning with little boops or excitement chirps letting you know he is ready to go to the park. His current foster parents are not morning people and he is slowly adjusting to their routine. He adores a cuddle on the couch and he will give you a little kick or paw to remind you to keep the belly rubs coming.
Wilbur can pull on the lead when he gets excited but has shown very quick improvement with loose lead training.
Wilbur doesn't like motorbikes and some cars. His attention is easily diverted with treats especially if anticipated. He is not a fan of car journeys.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Wilbur's preference for a calm environment means he is best suited to a home with children aged 12+ who understand how to interact with a dog and respect his boundaries.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: Wilbur doesn't actively seek out canine companionship, and would be happiest as the only dog in the household - he just loves his people! He has not shown any signs of aggression to other dogs, but can at times get protective of his ball at the park (he just loves fetch that much!). Wilbur is untested with cats.

All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
