About Colin
Meet Colin. A 5yr old, very handsome, Border Collie looking for his place in the world.
Colin is a hugely affectionate boy who simply adores being around his humans. He loves a belly rub and puts his head in your lap looking for pats many times a day. He is very hard to resist with those big golden brown eyes staring up at you! ♥
Colin can get a bit excited when he first sees you and wants to jump up to greet you. This habit has been worked on in foster care and now very controllable. He is not a particularly high energy version of his breed, however he does still require a decent sized yard and daily exercise, after which he will happily snooze at the back door.
Colin has regular doggie pals but he needs fairly slow and calm introductions when meeting any new dogs. He is not at all aggressive but can get a bit overexcited, which can be a bit off putting to dogs who haven't met him before. Under instruction he very quickly relaxes into nice sniffs and play bows with his new friend. He is currently best suited as being the only dog in the home, (mostly because he is so human focussed) however a very calm and older female dog who takes no nonsense could also be considered. He is not suited to a home with cats or pocket pets.
Colin requires an adult only home, or with older teenagers, where his humans are around more often than not. He has lived with young children before, and while he loves them, their excitement and high levels of noise and energy tend to wind him up. Children visiting the home (such as Grandchildren) would be no issue and would be a good opportunity for him to learn in smaller doses how to be relaxed around young human energy again.
Colin can sit and stay and knows the command 'away' if you need him to give you space. He is very responsive to lead corrections and will often put himself into a relaxed drop position during a training session. He is a clever boy who wants to please his humans and simply needs a strong and calm leader to help him become the best version of himself.
If you have the home, experience and environment for Colin to shine - then please apply today!
