About Kiri **2nd Chance Cat Rescue**
MY PROFILE:
Meet Kiri! This little girl has had an eventful start to her life!
She was born a little premature, as her mother was very sick during the pregnancy. Sadly her mum was too unwell to care for her and her brother, so they were rejected at birth. While Frumpkin didn’t make it, Kiri pulled through. (Their mother also recovered and has now been adopted!)
Thankfully a day after she was born, another mama cat gave birth, and took Kiri in straight away.
She couldn’t latch and drink properly at first, so she was bottle fed every two hours for a week (lots of bonding time with her foster mum). Eventually she got the hang of drinking from her adoptive mama, and the rest was history!
This hilarious little girl is full of life. There is absolutely no stopping Kiri now she is strong.
As a side effect of being a bottle baby, she is quite social. While she might be wary when initially meeting new people, when she’s confident with you she is always nearby. To her, bathroom trips are a prime cuddle time.
She has lots of energy and will need a good amount of kitten-sized enrichment. While not tested with little kids, she could get on well with them as long as they are respectful. Sometimes her playing can get over-zealous, but it’s all with the best heart.
Kiri gets on perfectly with the resident cats and foster kittens, and after playtime she is always snuggled up in her spot with another cat. She would be best in a home with a friendly feline, or maybe even be adopted with one of the fosters she’s currently with (Mayday, Hobie, and Roze are her favourites).
Disclaimer- Kiri does have a medical condition. Due to being premature and with a sick mama, the growth plates in her front elbows have come through a little bendy, and her right front leg is a little shorter. After vigorous playing she does have a limp. While there is a potential she might grow out of it, anyone who adopts her will need to keep in contact with the rescue. In six months she will need to see one of our vets for a review on how her growth plates are progressing. Current advice from the veterinary specialist who reviewed her x-rays is that she may need corrective surgery, or potentially amputation on one leg depending on how it grows.
If amputation is needed the rescue will cover the cost, but relevant consults and procedures need to be done at our vet and keep us in the loop.
Kiri’s foster mum is happy to provide a google photo album of all her baby pics! She was extremely adorable and tiny.
