About Balka
Balka is a super sweet little girl (approx 5kg) who loves to give you licks and cuddles. When you first wake up in the morning, she will snuggle into your neck with a gentle hug to help you welcome in the day. She is a great snuggle buddy and loves to be with you. Balka is a pretty chilled dog who is not high maintenance. She loves to lie in the sun and curl up on the couch – she just needs her perfect forever home to do it in! Balka still has plenty of life in her and her cheeky personality really shines through when she gets excited. She’ll run and grab a toy to play with and toss around.
Balka is very easy going out and about. She has gone into the office with her foster carer and gone for walks around the city. Walking past children, prams, bikes, motorbikes, scooters – nothing phases her. Balka’s favourite walks though are sniffaris. She loves to wander and smell all the good doggy news along the way. At this pace she can go for quite some time (40mins-1hr). Balka is very good with people and is more than happy to make friends with new people that she meets. She will lap up all the attention people are happy to give to her.
While she has been ok with the children she has met, she is looking for a quieter home for her retirement years and would be ideally suited to a retired couple who are home most of the time or someone who can take her to work with them (she loves to join in on zoom meetings!).
Although Balka doesn’t have much formal obedience training, she is a very easy dog to have around. She enjoys the finer things in life so as long as she has her people and some cuddles, anything else is a bonus. She picked up using the doggy door very quickly and sleeps through the night at the foot of her carers bed. She is toilet trained, but can’t hold for extended periods of time so needs to be guided outside after mealtimes. Balka travels well in the car and loves going out for adventures with her carers. Balka does have a bit of separation anxiety, so will need people able to be around with her as she overcomes this. She will be fine to live in a unit or house as long as her family are mostly around or can take her to work as she is not a barker. She will alert to the doorbell or a strange noise, but other than that is a quiet housemate.
Even though Balka is currently living with 2 other dogs, she does not always enjoy the company of other dogs and much prefers human attention. She will need to be an only dog in her forever home and her new owners should not have an expectation for her to socialise with other dogs as she gets quite intimidated by other dogs staring at her. She happily walks past other dogs out and about and will ignore other dogs in the office if they ignore her, so she is the perfect dog for someone who doesn’t necessarily need a dog who wants to interact with other dogs, but still wants a dog who can walk around other dogs with no issues.
Balka is full of personality and is a seriously wonderful little dog! Her cuddly and affectionate personality will make any family fall head over heels for her. She has enough energy to go on a daily walk and play with some toys, but is mature enough to relax for the rest of the day and enjoy some rest and relaxation. She is in great health for an older dog- her blood results were fantastic for her age, she’s had a dental and a small lump removed so she is in good health and ready to find her forever family.
Balka will need to be allowed inside as part of the family and provided a warm bed inside to sleep on of a night. She should be fed a good quality diet and taken on a nice daily walk to stretch her legs and have a sniff. She doesn’t ask for much, but in return gives her people endless love and affection.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
