About Rex
******************APPLY AT www.gsrv.com.au ******************************
Rex is 8.5 months old, at such a young age, he has already found himself homeless and in the pound, he is not coping well, and we want to get him out and into a forever home ASAP before he deteriorates.
Rex is a gorgeous boy who loves humans, he doesn’t have much in the way of manners and will jump up to gain your attention. With the help of treats, Rex quickly realises that all 4 paws on the floor and even better – sitting, is a much quicker way to get attention and get a treat, he is a quick learner, and it will not take long for this puppy jumping behaviour to disappear once given clear boundaries and direction as to what is expected of him.
Rex has not had much in the way of training; however, he is possibly the most food motivated dog we have ever met and is very easy to lure and distract, he already had great focus when treats are around and only has eyes for his handler even under high distraction. Rex will be a dream to train for someone willing to put in the time and effort into him, he is very clever and eager to please, the sky is the limit with this boy.
Rex hasn’t been exposed to children, his jumping may pose an issue to small children as he will accidentally knock them over, Rex also enthusiastically snatches treats and will need to learn to be gentle… We are searching for a home where everyone is over the age of 8 years old, all family members must have had experience living with a large-breed dog.
Rex has always lived with another young dog; however, they fed off each other’s young puppy, boisterous energy and got up to mischief together. Rex will bark at other dogs initially out on a walk, he seems a little unsure and nervous but again, is easily distracted with a treat. Rex has been able to successfully meet and hang out with a calm older dog, Rex largely just chilled out and focused on his handler, engaging every now and then with the other dog just following him around. Rex would thrive living with an older, calm, large-breed dog that can influence him to make good decisions and practise calm behaviour, Rex would also be ok living as the only dog in his new home.
Rex has not been tested with cats or other small pets.
Rex will need an active home where he is given plenty of physical and mental stimulation, he is so completely food obsessed that he would LOVE to engage with enrichment toys and puzzles, keeping his mind busy whilst working for a reward, this will not only help build his confidence but help exert some of that puppy energy!
Rex is such a clever boy that is ready for a family of his own that can love him and guide him through to adulthood, this boy needs to be given boundaries and direction, he is ready to learn and to become your loyal best friend.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
Mature (1 year to 6 years) - $600
Senior (7 years plus) - $350
