About Harvey
Please only apply for this greyhound if you have:
- Children over the age of 10
Harvey is a lovable 4.5 year old male with so much enthusiasm for pet life. He adores spending time out on walks and playing with fluffy toys, especially squeaky ones. He is a gentle walker and has been practicing ‘wait’ at every road crossing.
Harvey would suit a full-time worker or a family that is out all day, as with a comfy bed and access to outside, he is happy to snooze the day away as long as he has a walk before you go in the morning. When you return, you’ll think you’ve actually got a kangaroo-hound with how high he bounces in the air with his excitement to see you again. Harvey would benefit from 30mins walking daily.
Harvey can be a touch timid in new surroundings and slightly nervous on tiled floors, but with the right treat, he can work through his fears and become confident in the environment over time. He has also been growing in his confidence around other types of dog breeds over the foster period, and has been on walks with lots of other greyhounds and other fluffier breeds with no issues.
Harvey is on the smaller side for a boy, standing at a healthy 29kg, and whilst not fussy with his food, he prefers to eat outdoors (except for when it's raining!). He travels well in a car, but may need a boost up into an SUV.
Harvey does have a tendency to have bursts of energy in the morning and afternoons where he’ll throw his toys into the air, race after and then pounce on them. With these bursts of playful energy, a household with children over the age of 10 would be beneficial, so as to not knock any littlies over.
Harvey is good at communicating when it’s time for a walk or if he needs to have a toilet stop. He will give a little bark to get your attention if you miss his cue of standing next to the appropriate door.
If you think Harvey could be the next member of your family, we’d love to get in touch!
[Note: Under Victorian Law greyhounds must be on-leash at all times in public areas, including in off-leash parks or ovals]
