About Chip
Chip is a small sized staffy who was rescued from a rural pound in NSW. He was initially timid and afraid in the kennels but we've really seen him blossom into an affectionate and joyful dog in our care.
Chip is looking for a kind hearted human who will provide him with endless cuddles, regular walks and some training to help him continue to develop his confidence and social skills.
When it comes to play time, Chip is an exuberant and energetic guy who loves to be active and have a zoom but he is happiest when he is getting cuddles! He is truly one of the most affectionate, snuggly dogs ever created.
In between activities he loves to snooze on the couch with his head on your lap and at night will curl up on the end of your bed.. or in your arms if you'll let him.
Chip is friendly with cats and plays well with other dogs including small puppies. He would enjoy a home with a non-reactive doggy friend to play. We say this as he can get vocal when excited and this can be off-putting for some dogs but he is a happy playful dude and will stop when told.
Chip is a good dog who wants to please. He is crate trained and toilet trained. He knows "sit" and can catch treats in mid-air. He walks well on lead and has decent recall around the house but on-lead walks are best as he really does love to zoom and may not know even to stop if there aren't fences.
Chip is responsive to feedback. He tries hard to modify his own behaviour when we correct him and we feel he will continue to be a fast learner with ongoing training.
Chip does best with slow introductions to new people and places. Due to his past experiences he can become anxious of strange people and situations and will bark if he feels unsafe but turns into a wagging, affectionate puppy when he has made friends. He is on medication to help him overcome his fear of strangers but will need an understanding carer who will ensure he isn't put in situations where he feels unsafe and savvy enough to calmy help him through any challenging situations.
We feel Chip would make a fantastic companion for any staffy-loving owner who can provide him with daily exercise, gentle instruction, plenty of love, and lots of belly rubs!
Chip just wants a best friend to spend the rest of his life with. Could that be you?
