About Dumpling
Dumpling has A LOT of personality packed into her bodacious roly poly body!
A purebred Shar Pei, Dumpling arrived into care with a lot of confidence and charisma, she knows she's a bit special and attracts a lot of attention when out and about. She's a social gal who loves a cuddle but also likes space to do her own thing which includes a lot of exploring and a lot of snoring.
Currently in foster care as the only pooch in the home, Dumpling spends her day going from her foster carers lap whilst she works from home, to exploring the garden, stockpiling items from around the house like scarves and shoes and snoozing. She walks well on leash and doesn't mind a quick hello before moving on to more important things like sniffing all the things.
Being a Shar Pei it's important that her new family do research into the breed's traits, Shar Pei's can be naturally suspicious of humans and dogs outside of their family unit so maintain a high level of positive social experiences and training is a must. They also can have some health specific issues which are important to note and understand to ensure that you have the right resources to address should she suffer from any in future.
MY IDEAL HOME: will be with a family committed to ongoing training and socialisation, like all puppies I have lots of things to learn and signing up to puppy school and/or group classes where I can engage in positive training is a must. My new family will ideally have done a lot of research on the breed / have prior Shar Pei experience.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I am a medium level energy, I enjoy a good decent outing a few times a day but am not going to be running any marathons. I like to play and explore but I also like to sleep (very loudly).
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I would be fine sharing my humble abode with children 6 and up.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I am friendly with other dogs, having met many in my travels, I am currently an only dog but would likely do well with a confident dog friend. I have met cats and could potentially live with one should they be dog savvy and my family were able to do a nice slow intro.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
