True to breed, Messi is loyal to his people and wants to be a close companion. He will happily follow you around and offer support and guidance in any household or garden activity. Messi is toilet trained and has lovely manners around the house, he will wait when asked and is easily corrected - he is a smart dog and eager to please.

Second to his people are tennis balls, he will drop a ball at your feet during the day when he thinks it could be play time and is starting to learn about the automatic tennis ball machine which he loves. He does love a job or activity.

Messi will need an active house who are around more often than not and can ideally involve him in activities during the day. Being a working breed he will be better suited to a quieter house and area, ideally adults and teenage children or older. Previous working dog experience will also be a benefit to understanding his breed.

Messi walks nicely on the lead with no distractions and is improving hugely at passing other dogs on lead without getting over excited. This is an area of ongoing training. He plays nicely with his female kelpie x foster sister and 13 week old pointer brother but he would suit an only dog home or a calm companion dog.
