About Dexter
Hello world, this is Dexter! Dexter is an older gentlemen at 9 years old, but he is still full of energy and exuberance. He is a stunning golden Kelpie boy who is very loyal to his humans.
Dexter can initially be a bit nervous with new people, places and other animals but once he has had a chance to suss everything out, his personality quickly shines through. Dexter is a bit of a sassy character and will be very upfront about what he wants. He will stand at the door until you let him outside, and will wait for you to join him there for playtime or a walk!
House and toilet-trained, Dexter is happy to hang out inside while you watch TV or make dinner. He sleeps peacefully inside overnight with no issues, and just wants to be close to his people as much as possible. Dexter has nailed basic training - he knows how to sit, wait, drop, be gentle, “bed” and is working on his recall. He absolutely loves the car and walks, so regular adventures for Dex are a must! His favourite places include the beach, big open parks and anywhere with water for swimming!
Dexter has lived most of his life in a rural setting and this is where he will continue to thrive! He will also benefit from a doggy pal, ideally one at a similar age that he can follow around and have calm playtime with. Dexter is familiar and comfortable with cats, but is still unsure about livestock so will need a slow introduction to potential new farm friends.
Due to his size and age, it would be best for Dexter to be in a home with no children. Dexter just wants to be part of the action, so ideally his new family will be home more often than not. He will also benefit from continued mental and physical stimulation as he gets further into his senior years.
If you are looking for an older, easily trained and loyal companion, Dex may be the man for you! Please apply today!
Dexter is located in VIC.
