About Cricket
Cricket is a gorgeous 8 month old Kelpie who is guaranteed to make you smile. He was described by the person who transported him from the pound to his foster home as the happiest little dog, and they weren't wrong! Cricket is a little bit different to other dogs (SEE MEDICAL NOTES) but his condition doesn't slow him down or dampen is love for life.
Cricket loves the company of humans and other dogs. He adores his furry foster brother and sister and looks to them for guidance. Equally he is never far away from his humans when outside. He loves being patted and melts as soon as you put your hands on him. Cricket has been exposed to a resident cat while in care and desperately wants to be friends, so could be homed with a dog savvy cat. He has been exposed to horses and shown no interest in them and has learnt to wait outside the paddock gates.
Cricket is crate trained and sleeps through the night without a peep. He is content to chill out in his crate when needed and equally happy to occupy himself with toys. But anything food related is his favourite! Cricket travels well in the car and is a quiet passenger. His recall is quite good but being a pup there are occasions when he gets distracted if he’s having too much fun wrestling and playing with his doggy friends.
His perfect home would be one with an older dog/s for company and guidance in the big wide world. He would be fine in most living situations, as long as he is given suitable exercise and mental stimulation.
He is an endearing little boy who loves life and will make a great family member.
Medical notes
**PLEASE READ**
Cricket has Early-Onset Cerebellar Abiotrophy. This was picked up when he arrived in care and was displaying an unusual gait, some balance loss and head tremors. Following an MRI and DNA testing, Cricket was diagnosed with Cerebellar Abiotrophy. He has been confirmed as having the 'Early-Onset' type which is generally non-progressive and stabilises at a certain point in the dogs' development. Cricket's symptoms have not worsened since arriving a couple of months ago and he will likely continue to adapt to his condition as he matures. CA does not slow him down in the slightest!
