About Fern 🌼
This adorable little girl is Fern….a fawn French Bulldog who is coming up to 6yrs old. Whilst Fern is currently living in a home where she is loved beyond words, her owners are not currently in a position to continue on with her care due to personal reasons. They would like to see her placed in a home where she will continue to be loved as she has always been, and receive the medical treatment required if and when needed.
Fern has been diagnosed with IVDD (mild) and up to this point, has not required any medical intervention other than crate rest and medication. She does need a strict routine though and someone who understands the do’s and don’ts with the French Bulldog breed and triggers to avoid injury.
Fern's IVDD triggers are harsh movements (jumping, stopping quickly, slipping). Her early symptoms are when she withdraws herself from standard practices (like following you around the house, looking out the windows, coming when called). And then the standard symptoms of slight tremors of her shoulders - she never progressed passed slight tremors. She is always crate rested as soon as any of them symptoms occur and medicated.
Fern is crate trained for sleeping and IVDD recovery. She will willingly go into her playpen/crate for a quiet retreat and once it's bedtime she will walk herself to her crate.
She is very polite, will sit/stay/shake when asked. She will wait until given the 'ok' command to eat. She responds to the command of 'watch out' to move slightly ( when she is in the kitchen and we need to open a cupboard/oven etc and she will move.)
She doesn't jump up at people when greeting or excited.
She is great with other dogs (of all sizes - although we have limited excessive rough play in case IVDD injury), great with cats (once introduced. She just wants to be their friend), great with children (but is removed from smaller children given the IVDD injury risk).
Her favourite treats are (apart from dog treats) carrot, lettuce, her Kong with biscuits and peanut butter, and ice cubes - we make her ice cubes with her biscuits frozen inside.
Ideally, Fern will need a calm, quiet home with limited hard floors (to minimise slipping) and preferably remain an only dog. This is only due to her condition and the potential risk of injury when playing etc. Fern’s owners have put in alot of work with her with regards to walking, not running, no jumping on and off furniture, crate training and overall providing a calm environment. This is something they need her new owners to continue on with.
If you feel you can provide Fern with what she needs, and interested in meeting this gorgeous girl or chatting to her owners in more detail about her condition, then please send us an enquiry. Fern is currently living in Sydney NSW (near Liverpool).

Adoption details
If you would like to express interest in adopting, we ask that you send through some info about yourself, your family and home, if you rent or own (rental agreement required if renting and rates notice required if you own) and what you can offer this gorgeous baby. Our aim is to find the best homes for our babies, not necessarily first in best dressed, so a good detailed application will make you stand out from the rest.
Once we have received your email outlining the above, those who we feel may be suitable, will be sent an Adoption Questionnaire to complete. Your enquiry will then be passed onto the appropriate carer and successful applicants will be contacted via phone.
