About Barney
Meet Barney, an approximately 4 year old Wolfhound Cross
Barney has a huge and delightful personality. He is calm, easy going and gentle. Barney is beautiful with our grandchildren and other dogs in our home. He is essentially a couch potato who loves his daily walks and afternoon playtime, but for the rest of the day he is happy to lounge and soak up the sunshine.
While we are devastated to have made the difficult decision to find Barney a more suitable home, we also know that our home environment is far from ideal for him. We live in an area that has a huge dog population and walking can prove quite stressful for him (and us) because of his reactiveness to other dogs. While he will welcome other dogs into our home with enthusiasm , out and about he is unpredictable. Mostly he just wants to say hello with excitement, but other dogs can find his enthusiastic approach very intimidating. His reaction to other dogs is very complex and we have not been able to work it out despite time and training. He is not a dominant dog by any means.
Barney needs a family that is sensitive to this issue and willing to work with him by avoiding these situations. Sadly this is impossible to do in Manly where we live.
Barney is sometimes stubborn but treats easily fix that. He loves his humans and home canines. Barney needs to be an important member of the family and he loves canine company. Barney sleeps inside and has access to both inside and outside during the day.
With his strong hunting instincts he would not be suitable in a home with pocket pets.
Our wish for him is a home with acreage or a large yard with secure fencing where he can roam stress free.
Barney is a very special and endearing pooch who deserves the best of homes. We will not compromise on finding the perfect family and home for him as he means the world to us, as he will to the right family.
We look forward to hearing from you.

If you could answer the following questions and provide as much information about your family, work, home life so we can best match up these pooches to the right family. Thanks so much.
* Current pets? If so, details.
* Children? If so, details
* Rent or own your home? Written agreement is required by your landlord/real estate for rental properties outlining that dogs are allowed. Our dogs and pups will only be adopted to homes where they are allowed inside to be part of the family. Real Estate approvals must state that this is permitted.
* Opportunities for socialization outside the home? Whilst some of our dogs are best in only dog homes, most of our dogs have been provided with lots of socialisation and will need this to be ongoing.
* Work commitments? How long will the dog be on their own?
* Why do you think this breed will be suitable for you? Breed type experienced owners will generally be given priority.
* Will you allow this pooch to live both inside and outside as part of the family?
* Yard check will be done to confirm you have a fully fenced secure yard and adequate shelter when the dog or pup is outdoors.
Wally's Doggie Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family. He/she will be desexed,1st and 2nd vaccination, microchiped, wormed and flea treated regularly and a health check done by our vet .
