Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **

BREED: Shar Pei X - the mix with these pups is probably many and varied - we only know that mum had some Shar Pei in her mix.
Shar Pei Traits: originally bred to guard, hunt, herd and fight the Shar Pei is now a companion dog. A calm, independent thinker, sometimes aloof he is a good watch dog and guard dog and devoted to his family. Early training is essential to counter his stubborn strong will and socialisation with humans and dogs must begin early. Due to his short nose he is prone to overheating so needs to be an inside dog.

NAME: Chloe

BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound with her 6 siblings at just a week old. They have all been hand-reared by their awesome foster carers and are now ready to take the next step into their new homes.

ASSETS: Affectionate, confident, intelligent, energetic, sweet and cuddly!

FAVOURITE THINGS: Chloe loves to play then cuddle! She is a typical puppy with bursts of energy where she loves to rough and tumble with her siblings and play with anything she can find, then will settle down for a snooze with either another dog or with her person.

ENDEARING FEATURES: She's great with everyone she meets and is extremely lovable. And she has the most expressive eyes!

OTHER ANIMALS: Being a young puppy she will get on well with other friendly dogs after gentle, supervised introductions and we feel she would prefer a home with either another youngish dog to play with, or at the very least a home where she gets to meet other dogs regularly - Chloe is very much her own person and could do well as an only dog with the right input. She doesn't like to be overwhelmed when playing and can get a bit growly and grumpy with her playmate but soon behaves again once she's given direction and a firm 'no' from her foster carer. She could live with a dog-savvy, confident cat, again after gentle introduction.

GENERAL INFO: Chloe will need training for pretty much everything being so young. Housetraining is underway but she still has some way to go to master it. Expect accidents while she's settling into her new home and routine! She'll benefit greatly from puppy school and ongoing classes into adulthood where she can mix with other dogs, and this is a commitment we will expect from her new owner. Due to Chloe's independent thinking and strong will, she would require a dog savvy owner who will take her training and socialisation seriously. We expect these pups to be medium sized or just under but there are no guarantees.

ESSENTIALS for Chloe:

** a loving home where someone is there for most of the day especially in the first six months after adoption
** a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized garden where she can run, play, sniff and explore
** attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for her to learn and grow confidence
** continued positive, gentle exposure and socialisation - essential for any mix of Shar Pei
**Chloe will have bursts of energy while a pup and we envisage will be medium to high energy as an adult dog.

Chloe could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 12 years of age who will play and interact with her appropriately but know when to give her space.
