Meet beautiful Bowen!

This boy came to us from far western NSW and he has come so far in the time he has been in care. Bowen is such a sweet and loving dog. We are seeing more and more of his personality come out as his confidence grows. He loves to snuggle up on the lounge with his foster carers at night. Bowen likes to be given a little bit of time to get comfortable with new people; however, it quickly warms up and is very friendly once he knows you. Typical of the breed type, this boy loves to please you and will do whatever he can do to make you happy. Bowen generally has a calm nature, but he is also playful and has a little cheeky side as well.

Bowen has been in foster care with a similar type of dog. He was very respectful of the other dog while they adjusted to each other’s company and now they love to play together. Bowen will do best in a home with another dog whom he can do some zoomies with and steal toys from. He has met some dogs while out on walks and he has been friendly with them all. Bowen will need a home where he has a yard to stretch his legs and a daily walk. He absolutely loves his walks, particularly his bushwalks, and to spend time sniffing all the great smells around.

While in care, Bowen has been brushing up on his basic training. He will sit when asked to wait and will stop doing something when asked. His foster carers are now working on his recall, stay and leave it. Bowen walks well on the lead on either a harness or a collar. He loves his crate – it is his safe zone and he will happily take himself off to his crate for a nap when he feels like it. Bowen will sleep in his crate throughout the night and he is toilet trained in a known environment (he will have accidents in new places). He also travels well in the car and enjoys looking out the windows. This boy loves his food and will happily work to earn his treats, so it is easy to get him on board for learning new things.

We are looking for a dog experienced home for Bowen where he will be a part of the family. He will need a home with another friendly dog who likes a bit of a game and is happy to share their bed with a new friend. Bowen should be allowed inside to be with the family and will need a warm comfy bed to sleep on inside at night. Loud noises and things being thrown are quite scary for Bowen, so he will need an adult only home without young children visiting regularly (a quiet and understanding older teenager would be ok). He is not very confident with stairs. Bowen will need a family who understands that he will need time and appropriate guidance to continue to build his confidence. He is blossoming into the sweetest and most wonderful dog who is going to be a fantastic addition to his new home.
