About Banksey
Banksey, unlike the artist, would like to change his anonymous status to well known! This little boy has lived a tough life up until now and would like the rest of his life to include being the centre of his new family’s world.
Banksey was found as a stray in rural NSW. He was extremely matted, with faeces and urine covering his knotted body. The rural facility he was impounded at shaved his fur off to provide some much needed relief. He made the long trip to us and has been spending some time receiving some much needed TLC and is now ready to find his forever home.
Banksey came to us quite a shy and nervous boy which is unsurprising given his history. His foster carer has been building up his confidence and he is now a delightful and playful little fella, however he is still nervous in some situations so he will need experienced owners to continue his training. He can be a bit shy when meeting new people, but quickly warms up and then is the most cuddly and affectionate boy. He loves nothing more than a good belly rub or snuggle on the couch.
During his time in care he has met dogs of various ages and sizes. He adores other dogs and loves to play bow to encourage other dogs to play with him. He can sometimes be a little rude in his play style (putting front leg over another dog’s back or walking on top of them on the couch!), so his new owners will need to ensure his playtime is managed until he learns what’s appropriate and what’s not. His interactions with other dogs have all been with known family and friends’ dogs and his new owner should continue with this type of socialisation (ie no dog parks) until he builds up confidence.
We feel he would do best with another dog in the household, one who is confident and friendly but we will not exclude single dog homes as long as someone is home more often than not. If you have another dog in the house, we are still looking for a home where someone is home more often than not or at least for an extended period while he settles in. He is not tested with cats, but his foster carer believes with correct introductions and dog savvy cats he would be fine to live with them.
Banksey has been learning some basic commands but this is a work in progress. He knew nothing coming into care so his carer has mainly been focusing on confidence building rather than traditional obedience. He will need an owner to continue with his basic training. He is still quite scared of the leash and collar, but loves his daily walks. He is quite an energetic boy and requires a decent amount of daily exercise. He is toilet trained, sleeps through the night and although a little anxious in the car he travels well and does not get car sick. He does have a bad habit of getting under your feet, so he is not suited to living with elderly people as he is a bit of a trip hazard. He is not a nuisance barker and would be suited to living in any sort of residence type. He can be a little fussy with kibble and prefers a fresh food diet.
Banksey is an easy going little fella who is a dream to live with. His sweet, playful nature is sure to win over many hearts. If you feel you can offer our cuddly white fluffy a home, then please fill out an adoption application outlining in detail what sort of home you can provide him and your previous dog experience that demonstrates your ability to help continue his confidence building.
Please note- we are currently experiencing large volumes of applications and our small volunteer run team are struggling to keep up with the emails. We will only be contacting a small number of applicants to take through to the interview process. If you do not hear back from us within 5 days of your application, you have unfortunately not been successful. Thank you for your understanding.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
