About Chaz
Are you after a love bug who loves cuddles ?
Well if you are looking for your next cuddle buddy, look no further than the gorgeous Chaz. This 2 year old Border Collie cross Kelpie is full of energy and is ready for a new loving home.
At just 23 kilos this super handsome boy is the perfect medium size boy.
He may look too big to be a lap dog, but believe us when we say he will work out how to curl up on anyone's lap!
Chaz is one of the most affectionate and loving fur babies, with an ample personality and so much love to give.
He is incredibly loyal and absolutely loves people, while he can seem a little shy at first, it doesn't take him long to warm up and then be prepared to be loved to pieces with cuddles and kisses

FAVORITE THINGS
Zoomies around the backyard!
When he's all tired out, he just wants to cuddle up next to someone and have pats and tummy rubs.
His favorite thing is his family! Chaz can be very cheeky and playful and is happy following you around the house, or sitting next to you while you work.
He loves a sniff on a walk and to explore new trails
INTERACTION WITH HUMANS
Chaz is always excited to see you once he knows you, and is constantly wagging his tail.
He can get a bit excited and jump up on you to give out a lot of kisses, but is very receptive when told to sit and calm down and will need to be reminded how to interact when overly excited.
This lovely boy is especially protective of his family and his property, so can be on high alert when strangers/visitors are entering the house.
He can be especially shy around men and will growl and bark if he feels intimidated, so may require some extra guidance and reassurance. Once you say someone is okay, they are his new best friend!
He can become anxious and cower when told off harshly, so definitely requires a gentle approach as he will listen intently and never means to do the wrong thing.
OBEDIENCE & TRAINING
While he hasn't had much experience on lead, he is very curious and learns quickly! He can be initially nervous around new people and dogs on walks and at times can be reactive if he is unsure, but he is ultimately a gentle soul with a bit of uneasiness in strange environments as we feel he hasnât had much exposure to the outside world in his previous home
Chaz is still unsure around bikes and cars when out walking and can pull on the lead or try and chase anything that moves. He seems to ignore a stream of cars on busy roads but only if a single drives or rides past will fixate and want to initially chase . Typical collie traits He has slowly been exposed to new stimuli and will require some further exposure and reassurance especially in busy environments.
He can be easily overwhelmed if there is a lot of commotion like inner city stuff so is best on quiet walking tracks.
He is still learning the basics like sit, drop and stay, but is very eager to learn if there are treats involved. Someone with experience with working dogs, such as Border Collies and Kelpies would also be beneficial.
ANIMAL SOCIAL SKILLS
Chaz has been tested with another male dog and initially was quite reactive, after a walk and sniff together he was then happy to initiate play and chase in his backyard. He will need slow introductions on lead when meeting other dogs and would most probably be reactive if the other dog was dominant and reactive towards him. Heâs the type of boy who would prefer a few good mates he knows to play with
He has been exposed to cats and horses and was unsure of how to act so we feel heâs best suited to a home without other pets, a well socialized female dog would be ok after a slow introduction
He is generally good with most dogs when out on a walk, but can be wary. He is happy to approach another dog and have a sniff, and if he likes them, will try and initiate play.
FOOD
Chaz is not a fan of dry food and will only eat it if nothing else is on offer!
He loves prime roll and is fed twice a day. He is very gentle when taking treats and will steal food within reach (don't leave roast chickens on the bench).
He is not a fan of peanut butter, but loves a smacko.
INDEPENDENCE
He is very independent and will happily spend plenty of time out in the garden, so a decent sized backyard for him to explore is a must. He loves being on high ground and climbs up on outdoor furniture to watch the world go by.
He has not been destructive with anything and is happy to sleep outside in a kennel. He doesn't cry or bark when outside and will patiently wait at the door to be let in on command.
BATHING/ SLEEP /TOILET TRAINING
He has not had any toilet accidents, apart from marking his territory outside in places that shouldn't be marked such as outdoor furniture, but will stand at the back door if he needs to go.
He knows the command to go to his bed, but isn't very good at staying there because he wants to be around you all the time.
He easily settles at night time and has never barked or made any noise overnight.
Chaz is double coated and sheds slightly, but is happy to be bathed!
EXERCISE
Chaz has been walked for at least half an hour each day, plus some playtime in the backyard. He would love to be walked even more regularly, but can be nervous when you bring out the lead if he is unsure where you're taking him.
He is strong on the lead and LOVES a sniff. He has plenty of energy so the more walks the better!
THE PERFECT HOME
In a perfect world, Chaz needs a family with plenty of love to give, and will accept all the love he has to give. He will be with a family that loves his quirks, his affection, his cheekiness and his playful nature.
An experienced dog owner, especially with a working dog breed would be best suited who live an active lifestyle to keep him exercised and stimulated.
A quieter household with less visitors would be ideal, as he can be anxious/stressed around new people. While he is fine to be home alone, he definitely prefers company.
He wouldn't suit a family with young noisy children, so a family with teenagers or young adults would be ideal.
He does require a good size yard to do those zoomies in with grass shade and shelter
If another dog in residence we are seeking a playful well natured female of similar energy size to loves to play
Overall, Chaz is a gorgeous boy with huge potential. He is affectionately known as a "big marshmallow" and will make a family very very happy!
