Stormy by name, sunny by nature. This boy is a ball of black joy, who loves other dogs and people alike. True to dogs of his age and breed, Stormy is still displaying a little of the teenage sillies, but these are reducing before his carers' eyes as his more mature angels take over. Stormy enjoys time with his people, playing with other dogs, chewing his toys, and chewing his dinner. He also appreciates daily exercise, enrichment toys and rewards-based training to help him be his best self. While entirely good natured, his size and play style are rather exuberant, so he does better in the company of bigger people and medium-larger dogs.
Stormy had obedience training as a puppy and has shown himself willing and able to learn new things in care. He can sit, drop, heel, stay, go to his bed and play dead, and is working on his recall. Stormy sleeps well through the night and enjoys daytime naps on the couch or in the sun once he has had his morning exercise. He is perfectly housetrained and nondestructive when left with canine companionship inside or outside while his people are out. He does think shoes are chew toys, so is best separated from temptation to maintain household harmony.
Stormy came into care undersocialised, which made him somewhat reactive to people and unusual objects when out and about. He has made huge strides with positive reinforcement from his people and cues from his canine walking buddy, and these behaviours have all but disappeared. Due to his past lack of experience, he is also a bit reactive to neighbourhood noises (thankfully, not the neighbouring dogs) and when people visit. He is fine with guidance from his carers and is learning to moderate when and how he uses his voice.
Stormy is a beautiful dog who would love to live in the suburbs or beyond with a friendly mature but not senior canine companion and loving dog-savvy adult and possibly teen humans who are willing to support his continued training. His needs are not complex and he will return care given with unwavering devotion, laughs and licks. Are you Stormy's people?

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

We look forward to receiving your application.
