Koopa AKA Peludo (Spanish for fluffy )

My foster mum says that I am a very handsome man indeed! When I walk I have the “maybeline” look going on!

Unfortunately, like many of us fosters, I haven’t had a lot of love and attention in my life. I was just “part of the house” who the housemates pretty much just fed. My foster family has shown me that being loved is pretty cool!

I am toilet trained/house trained and I learnt how to use the doggy door in my first night with my foster family. I sleep on the couch or in a small dog bed, and once the lights are off at nighttime, I’m pretty good and go to sleep.

I know basic commands like sit, drop and sometimes I shake hands as well! 

I loooooooovvvvveeeeee any sort of food treat and cheese is my weakness. Cheese is even how my foster mum gets my harness on, I fall for it every time!

I am a good little guard dog and I will certainly let you know if there’s any Mail, or the garbage truck is coming or if anyone is leaving the house!

I walk ok with my harness and lead and my Foster brother bought me a special one that says I’m a bit nervous. Sometimes when walking I will bark at people approaching me or my fosters. I get excited when I see other dogs but sometimes I get overwhelmed and it’s best to keep walking because I don’t like them in my personal space. I don’t understand how to act around dogs and humans all the time and my excitement can very quickly turn into a feeling of being overwhelmed. My foster mum has however taken me to a cafe and I was a very good boy there!

Apparently, I have similar characteristics to those of a cat! Let me come to you to get my attention, but also let me have my space when I need it.

Loud noises sometimes make me a bit jumpy and I don’t like loud motorbikes! However, I’m ok with thunderstorms.

Due to my breed, my personality and lack of love, unfortunately, I can sometimes be a little “bitey” I don’t mean to, it just happens! Hence, treat me like a cat! I like to resource guard things and if someone’s hand gets in the way I might taste it with my teeth! I did bite the vet nurse at my vet appointment and for some time I will probably need sedation of sorts before going to the vet, it’s scary! My foster mum hasn’t used a brush on me yet ( I was brushed under sedation) but I will let her run her nails through my fur. But my fur is actually pretty good!

My best friend is actually my 11yr old (human) foster brother. But sometimes I get a little too excited and really don’t know how to calm myself down and then I become overwhelmed and I try to lick him a little with my teeth, just his ankles because they were running away from me and I thought it was a fun game to try and get him! So I think maybe a house without kids would be better for me.

My foster mum thinks that my forever home would be one with a single person or couple, where they can spend a lot of time with me, as I was left for very long periods. But I’m also ok if you need to go to work. I need love and attention, but I also need my own space.

Cats - I like to bark at the cats next door! So probably not

Kids - probably not

Dogs - at this stage I might get a little jealous with another dog around, but maybe down the track

Foster humans say I am cute, playful and a bit sassy!
