About Kiki
Please meet Kiki, an active, friendly and people-loving Beagle x Ruby Cavalier born on 23 November 2021.
In her past life, Kiki was a house dog and devoted companion. She slept with her favourite human at night and enjoyed all the privileges of a much loved inside-outside dog. She was accustomed to living with other dogs and having lots of space to roam and play.
The Beaglier, as this hybrid is called, is a fairly new addition to the long list of designer breeds. Originating in Australia, it combines the desirable characteristics of the two parent breeds, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Beagle, to produce a relatively small, friendly, even-tempered and energetic dog with a less active scent drive than the Beagle.
At 15 kgs, Kiki is a very cute package. Temperament-wise, she's probably more Beagle than Cav. Very much a "Velcro dog", Kiki loves human company and is happiest when her family is around her and she has a canine mate to play with.
Care must be taken to prevent her from wandering off into harm's way, which basically means she needs to be contained in a secure yard and on a leash when outside of the house. Beagles are not renowned for their recall.
Kiki's quite strong on the lead, especially when excited. Coming from a rural background where she had little exposure to walking paths and dog parks, she will benefit from lead training.
Kiki is more dominant than submissive. She is friendly with dogs she knows, so a proper introduction is important for her. She is living happily with a female dog in her foster home and they enjoy snuggling up together at night on their foster mum's bed.
With dogs she doesn't know, she's inclined to bristle up or bark as a sign of arousal or excitement. She is very playful and active, but not aggressive.
Kiki is untested with cats and probably too strong for young children.
She is house-trained.
Kiki's ideal home is an active one with space to romp and play and a compatible dog for self-exercise. Preference will be given to homes where someone is around most of the time, which is what Kiki is used to.
If you are interested in meeting this lovely youngster and can offer her a suitable, safe and loving forever home, PLEASE COMPLETE THE ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ and one of our volunteers will be in touch.
Kiki is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
