Fynn

Introducing Fynn, the most affectionately delicious sweet Border Collie that wants nothing more than a loving home like he deserves. Fynn is a 4-year-old male Border Collie. He is charming, gentle, playful and is looking for a family to welcome him in, with a gentle and understanding nature.
When Fynn arrived to us he was quite a mess. After living on a chain most of his life in a rural area Fynn was underweight , covered in burrs and his coat was matted and full of knots, Fynn had been exposed to the elements for way too long and his nose was burnt to a crisp. After months of love . medical treatment and affection Fynn is now an amazing and beautiful boy who deserves the very best life has to offer
Fynn is currently being fostered in a family with 3 children, the youngest being 4 years old. Fynn is very friendly and just adores people, loving any attention he receives. Fynn is welcoming of pats by all and when they’re exceptionally good he will roll onto his back for a tummy rub too! We don’t think that he has grown up with children and as amazing as he is with children, he can get a bit excited and jump up on your shoulders to say hello! We suggest older children would be best for Fynn and/or children with larger dog experience.

Favourite things:
Walks - sniffing all the local smells
Lots of pats and tummy rubs and defiantly affection
Playing chase around the yard with my little human buddies
Interactions with other animals:
Fynn loves meeting other doggy friends. He is friendly and will gently introduce himself with lots of sniffing. He will be playful and want to have a little play and will not be fazed by dogs not so friendly and move on quickly to his next adventure. Fynn has had interactions with cats and didn’t seem to care much for them.
Human interactions:
Fynn is a very affectionate boy, who will sit next to you for hours especially if you are patting him or playing with his ears. Whilst he does love human interaction, he does also spend a lot of his time outside and is happy to do so with minimal barking, whimpering etc.
Obedience:
Fynn has basic obedience. He can sit and drop and since being in foster care, his foster family have been working on his recall as he wasn’t over familiar with his name. Fynn has improved dramatically and will come when called. Yes if he is playing, he takes a bit more convincing, but easily combated with yummy treats. He is a very smart boy, so we think with some consistent training, love and treats he is very likely to improve.
Hygiene and Toileting:
Fynn has a beautiful shiny luscious coat that will need regular brushing and grooming, which he absolutely loves and will happily lay down to make sure you get to all the hard to reach places.
Fynn has spent a lot of his earlier years outside it seems. When he came into foster care he didn’t understand he couldn’t just go to the toilet wherever he wished, and we are happy to say that this clever boy has stopped lifting his leg inside and is completely toilet trained, including overnight!! We are just so proud of how far he has come whilst in our care.
Sleeping:
Fynn is a great sleeper. He happily sleeps both inside and outside. We have opted to move Fynn inside to the laundry in his foster home as he has a cheeky possum friend that can’t help but tease him from the treetops. Barking at his possum pal is something that Fynn cannot resist. This doesn’t happen all night, however 4am is a little too early to start the day! Fynn sleeps in the laundry and like a mouse we don’t hear a peep from him. He goes to bed around 10:30-11pm and will be let out anywhere between 5:30-7:00am happily with no accidents!
Independence:
Fynn is a very independent boy who goes between spending his days outside, laying about and smelling the smells to dozing the afternoons away on his bed inside or sneakily jumping up on the couch. He is very happy to see his foster family arrive home and cautiously makes his way inside where he will say hello to everyone and welcome his pats for as long as possible.
Exercise:
Fynn enjoys his exercise where he will go for at least a 1 hour walk each day. He walks well using a harness and lead. He is very strong and has been working with his foster family and is improving on his pulling. Fynn has also enjoyed some off lead times within a large fenced area which has been very successful working on his recall and keeping a close distance.
Travel:
Fynn doesn’t mind travelling in the car. He is a little reluctant to get in, however once he makes himself comfortable, you don’t hear much more from him. He has enjoyed short trips with a few longer (up to 2 hr) trips with no fuss.
Food:
Fynn is fed twice daily a dry food diet of premium dry and prime dog sausage. He very much enjoys raw bones as a treat too.
Medical:
Fynn has a pink spot at the top of his nose
As Fynn’s nose has seen quite a lot of sun he developed a severe sunburn on his “collie nose” Fynn had it treated for a few months while creams by the vet and also a biopsy done to rule out other issues and the results came back as solar damage. It has improved greatly but he will need to have plenty of shade in his new home and when out in the sun a dog sunscreen always used called filter back

Inside the home:
As mentioned,Fynn has spent his earlier years as an outside dog chained up so we have slowly introduced him to coming inside. He did take a while to adjust to the different feeling of the laminate flooring under his paws, however with a slow gentle approach we are happy to say that he is very much an inside/outside doggy. He just wants to be by his foster family's side.

Ideal home:
Good sized grassed yard with secure fencing and heaps of shade and shelter.. NOT NEGOTIABLE
Where children are in the home, they are older or have dog experience
Daily walks and continued socialisation with other dogs
Willing to commit to Fynn’s continual development
Include Fynn into their daily lives, providing him with all the fun, love and kindness this gorgeous boy deserves
Most importantly as this boy did not have a great start to life a home that will give him his very best life as he is an amazing boy
Fynn does not require another dog as he really shows no intestines so if there is another dog in the home we are seeking a quiet female who will not jump all over him and keep to herself .
